I had the same problem with mine, took off the spark arrestor and burned it off with a propane torch, works great now.

I use both the 91r and the 94r in my business. Whenever I’m doing trimming and edging, I always grab the 94. When I need to cut thick stuff, I take the 91 every time. The 91 from my experience outperforms the Echo 2620t and the Husqvarna 525lst

They finally gave me a new 94 then it went back to the shop twice but they finally got it right but it still takes about 10 pulls to start..the 91 has never let me down though

P & H Lawn Care My 94 used to be like that until I turned the low speed screw on the carb 1/4 turn CCW and removed the spark arrestor. Now it starts on the 2nd pull every time

@@BigMike-Soetoro Yes. I think the reason is the 4mix engine on it. I also installed a 2:1 high torque Echo gearbox on it.

I watch these guys along side the road with their String Trimmers just going at it. Me, I just use a 6.5 HP Commercial Honda Rotary Mower and get it done in a fraction of the time. Even tall grass. Still cuts it in a fraction of the time of a String Trimmer. Then I hit the tight areas with the String Trimmer the mower can't get.

I prefer the 94, no probs. I never use the prime pump, except if I have run out of fuel. I like the z 40 saw. Oh I use prime if hot restart.

Most people don’t realize You don’t need the primer. It’s only to get the fuel to the carb so you don’t have to crank it a million times

I’ve run the hell out of a fs94r for about 5 years now. Went about 4 years stock original spark plug and everything not one single problem starts first pull almost every single time cold or hot. About a year ago the spark arrestor got clogged up simply took it off and threw it in the garbage and around the same time had to replace the head. No problems whatsoever out of it besides those two things still running it today still on all original everything except for head couldn’t be any happier with it. It doesn’t get babied either the majority of my cutting is very thick stuff always runs perfect have no complaints with it. I honestly think the harder you run them the better and the longer they will keep running good

I cant remeber if i mentioned it in that video or not but it had so many warranty fixes on it that stihl eventually gave me another one. It started having troules also and i sold it. My 91r is 5 years old and still runs as good as it did new. The guys in the shop at my dealer said theyve had a lot of trouble out of the 94s made in the past year and so did the stihl rep i talked to. He said they were aware of the issues and working to resolve them.

Was about to buy another one but not sure if I want to now. You would think the 4 stroke would be less reliable with the valves and everything but I guess people are having good kick with them. Do you have to do anything to maintain yours because with the 94r I have literally done nothing i just put gas in it and cut besides the head and the spark arrestor but those were simple cheap fixes

@@hondaloyal8570 i havent done anything to the 91 except a new air filter and shaft and that was after 3 years. The shaft at that time was only $11 at my dealer. Ive talked to a bunch if guys in the business locally that have had the same issues out of the new 94s. I went with the echo 2620t and i love it...this is just my opinion, i think when stihl started going to the big box stores like rural king their quality went down. The older stuff is tough as nails though

Its a great trimmer when it runs right. I love its power to weight ratio great for everyday use. However since the video ive decided my next trimmer, when i need one, will be the echo 2620t. I love their blowers so i think il give the trimmers a try

@@pandhlawncare I have a fs91r and love it but Don’t love the maintenance on it. I gotta take it to the shop every 8-10 months for a valve adjustment. So I was looking for a 2 stroke to avoid the valve adjustment. It’s real frustrating because I’ve heard the echo 2620 is too weak compared to the fs91r and the 2620T is “more powerful “ than the fs91r. Lol so that’s why I’m looking into the fs94r. A 2 stroke that’ll provide similar power to the fs91r

Question, I’m going back and forth between the 91r and the 94r I’m leaning towards the 91 because I can put the Bush eater. basically so I can get more of my moneys worth and cut brush more easily. The issue was the 94 has a cable shaft while the 91s shaft is solid. Any thoughts or recommendations?

I need to replace my FS 80 after about 23 years. I’m looking at both the FS 91 or FS 94 but I’m gravitating towards the 94 because I’m a homeowner, not a contractor and the extra routine maintenance requirements of the 4-Mix engines. Thanks for the review.

Honestly, after all the trouble i and others have been having out of the newer models of stihl, i have switched to echo. The 2620t is almost as light as the 94r but has more power than the 91 and a lot more dependable

@@pandhlawncare In the end, I bought the FS 91. I already have metal Stihl blades so it made sense in that respect. However, getting hold of machine garden tools has been problematic due to COVID. I was lucky to find one from a dealer which offered no price hike and free shipping. I didn’t really look at Echo, perhaps because they are not as readily available at my local dealerships. So far, I’m pleased with the FS 91.

A buddy got the 91 the same time i got my 94 and he has had the same trouble. The stihl rep told me the part that they got a bad batch of and for the life of me i cant remember what it was. Since this vid i have held on to the 91, which is 5 years old and runs great, but i sold the 94 after stihl gave me a new one. I replaced it with the echo 2620t and added the 3020t and i love them

I don't think you got a dud on that 94. I have 2 94's. One of them was essentially a lemon. Ran just good enough where i would drive home& it would start sucking again. They put 3 carbs on it before it ran right. It's ran right since. I agree when the 94 is running right, it's great for light stuff. But the 94 made me buy an Echo 3020T recently, which is unreal power & perfect power delivery for thicker&heavier stuff

@@pandhlawncare My problem is my 94 is the Kombi Kombi powerhead 94, and i got all the attachments years& years ago when i was running kombi 130's. So the attachments keeps me having the finniky 94 powerhead around, but i'm basically switching over to echo slowly but surely. I bought my first 9010 blower Friday to semi retire the Stihl 450 i bought new 3 yrs ago. I just wish the Kombi attachments fit echo's kombi style powerhead

I like the husqvarna titanium really well never seen the orange. We dont have a husq dealership thats covienent for me. Ive switched to the echo 2620t and the 3020t and im running the black diamond now. I like it ptetty well

You don’t need to go to a dealer if u wanna check out that line. If you have a Lowe’s near by they most likely will have it. I get a dealer if u wanna check out the whole Husqvarna line or to make an equipment purchase, but for accessories or filters or line u can just stop by a Lowe’s quick if u got one near that is. I run Stihl I mostly go to a dealer for most everything closest dealer period 18min from me. I have bought line filters accessory type stuff from EBay. I do understand supporting dealers and local small businesses if that your reason for no online or big box stores.

Never understand these guys with 3/4 different strimmers, 6 different hedge cutters, 27 different blowers....... I see them all the time, saw one guy the other week with 4 strimmers, 3 mowers (all rollers) and 3 blowers! I have just one of each, have done for 17 years, not once have I been strimming and thought "humm I need another strimmer" 😂

Year before last i was out in the field and the shaft on my 91 went out. While i was at the dealer getting it fixed i got the 94. I never want to be on the job again and have a piece of equipment go down and have to leave to get it fixed. Thats why i got 2. But i agree i dont see the point in being a solo guy and having 4 trimmers. I do have 3 blowers but il explain why in my next vid. Spoiler, i was in the right place at the right time😂

I just started this year and even with new equipment , "only one" has left me stranded in the middle of a yard. My old fs80 was down and i replaced the head with a speed feed head on my 111 and it was eating string for some reason. I went and bought an echo 2620 immediately. Come to find out the speed feed head just didn't like the titanium line i was feeding it. A different string and problem vanished, And its nice when you're son goes and grabs the other trimmer from the trailer and helps out while you're finishing up somewhere else. I got the FS80 back today and I love that thing!!!

Lol I'm scared to buy another sthil. Both the km91 and my 91r are duds. My 91r take a minimum of 12-14 pulls to start. Any more nowadays I just carry along my home Depot echo 225 and just use it over the sthils. Had it 3 years now and still starts first pull.

P & H Lawn Care Get the 3020t if you go echo. From my experience it’s the only Echo that can compete or beat the 91r regarding power. Also if you want to replace the 94, get the Husqvarna 525lst or the Redmax 260ts. Those are my favorite lightweight trimmers beside the 94

@@pandhlawncare With any of these stihl 4mix or any small motor in general. You choke and then pull the rope as soon as it hits turn the choke off, if you don't you will more than likely flood it. I use this method on all 3 of my stihl trimmers, hedge trimmer, blowers, my echo 2620 and my Husqvarna chainsaw. It is a dang near flawless method. Although my 800 magnum blower with easy start has tricked me into flooding it a time or 2 :)

I only run non ethanol in all my equipment. When i spoke with the stihl rep and he replaced the 94 with a new one he informed me they got a bad batch of a part and that they had had tons of problems out of them that year.
