You're an absolute Legend mate, this happened to me today and I had ton of work to do, I have the exact same machine and I did what you said and there was heaps of gunk in there so I bathed mine in petrol and it turned black then I got an air gun and cleaned it some more and wire brushed it a little too, overkilled it lol and it revs it's guts out like any two banger should

Hi Pete, good instructional video, it is good practice to clean this at the end of each season before putting the Line Strimmer away for the winter. sometimes I remember, sometimes I forget.

Nothing like a plugged up exhaust! 🤣 I had that after 3 days of riding to Witheren, QLD. (My Son - Ash's Place). It was amazing how well I performed after unblocking the block! 🤣 A big shout out from half way on my trip! 👍😁

My Stihl FS 55 RC is very different. Mine must of been an experimental model? It has a stainless steel plate over the muffler outlet and the entire housing front and back have to be removed to service the spark arrestor (evidently).

@@FULLPELTAdventures It's an old model and the only FS 55 RC I've ever seen with this system. I was able to solve the blocked spark arrestor problem easily once I studied the complex mechanism. It appears Stihl was trying to reduce engine noise along with providing spark protection. I got this machine from a rather affluent man and I'd almost bet he had something to do with Stihl designs and testing.

If its near new may be a warranty claim. At least it's a quick fix. Hopefully your mixing the oil/fuel ratio correctly.
