Richard, I cant thank you enough! I had no idea why my clutches on my 462c and 261c needed to be lightly spun to gently drop down completely to install the e-clip. When your video showed up on my sub list my heart sank when you pointed out there is an arm back there! I just pulled them both apart and realized I have been inadvertantly being nice to my clutches by spinning them and letting them find home without forcing them! Thank you for the video and explanation.

Great tips👍🏻 alot of Echo's have similar pump drives and give the same "tink" when properly assembled.

Another awesome video Richard, I appreciate the discussion about issues you have seen with the 261s as I have one. That will help me down the road if I run into issues just knowing what to look for. Along those same lines I appreciated your video on the 362 switch lever as mine broke one of the wire holding clips off so I am getting the newer one with the choke rod keeper on it because of your video. I also need the wiring harness as the kill wire is broken after routing it in the switch lever. Your videos are very helpful and pretty straight to the point which is much appreciated. Keep up the good work!

Very helpful. I had issues with my MS 400 not oiling but it was the oil. I used STP bar oil in my 261 but the 400 didn’t like it. Started using Stihl oil (of course) in the 400 and now it oils nicely. For 3 bucks more a gallon I’ll stay using Stihl b/o. Thanks.

I guess the viscosity is different. You could try thinning out the stp

@@FishFind3000 I thought about doing that but I started using the Stihl oil and it works great in all my saws. I can get it at my local saw shop for about $16 a gallon. And yes, the STP is like molasses even on hot days.

I had an 028 with the plastic gears. They were horrible. I used to keep a set in my shed cuz I knew they’d go bad at worst possible time

stihl manual IIRC says nothing about a stop. I think mine snapped at some point. MS311 home saw. it never seemed to oil enough. I see oil coming out of the slot so mayne it still works ok. I plan to drill the bar oil hole larger.

The 460 has a bigger diameter crank than the 440 or 360. As I remember, 6:33 it is .5 mm bigger. The 261 is not even in the same class as the 360 or 440. Its closest progenitor is the 026/260 - not especially big saws, both of which are better saws than the 261.

Can you share the angle of the oil adjuster you fixed it at? The stop is also broken on mine. Additionally, can this be replaced? If so, can you show a video of that as well?
