I like to bet with myself and guess what the problem might be before you fix 'em. I'd have given you 10 to 1 that this was a clogged spark arrestor. Great work, Bob, on a legendary chain saw!

Every saw laying on my floor has SOME kind of Fuel pressure problem....not just Stihl either, all sorts of brands! I'm starting to think it's a Major reason saws don't work correctly.

What would be your diagnosis of 029 that has fuel vapor coming out carb Venturi when it's throttled up. It runs pretty good but this seems odd.

I have a stihl ms 170. Saw will start but once I release the trigger the saw stops. Any idea what the issue maybe?

use a little penetrating oil or wd-40 and those fuel lines will go in easier.

Put a new fuel line on my ms230 and a carb kit and the damn thing just dies out and wont rev as though its fuel starvation its doing my head in ive fiddled with the 3 setting screws ,what settings should these be at please the first high and low are 1 turn and 3/4 the other ,but there's one in the handle no idea on that one ,

I actually had problem bogging down. It idled great . I actually took carb off then thought about something I put it back on and reached for my can of carb cleaner ! Wow ,sprayed in the carb while running and it shut down. Let it sit ran it up again but took a lot of pulls . Ran it up sprayed again and did a few times about 1 hour total let it sit between sprays. Well runs great not taking carb apart and it cleaned the varnish dirt that was in the jets ect ect.. try it!

Oh i hope thats not whats wrong with mine! It was working a week ago when my brother in law was here. I went to cut some limbs off a fence yesterday and it dies every time a squeeze the throttle. 😒

Generally it is not getting fuel. I assume you had the same symptom with original carb? Did you change/check fuel lines.? Also Chinese carb nearly always have issues with high/low adjustments. Open the low a little more than normal.

I bought a cheap Chinese fuel line for my stihl it lasted a week. I got bent over and raped at the dealer for nearly 20 bucks but it's been good for 4 years now. 20 bucks for a stihl fuel line. Great or what?

No doubt they are expensive if you go OEM. The 2 cycle oil mix can affect the life of parts as well. I use OPTI 2 which is stabilized and can be mixed to run any equipment no matter if it is 50:1 or 30:1 mix ratio.

Yep! I bought a 2 pack for $10 on ebay, thinking "it's just a fuel line, how could they cheat me?".......well the fuel line was SHORTER than OEM! I can barely operate under Half a tank, freaking scumbags, always find a way to cheat you!
