Introducing the new STIHL MSA 220 T and MSA 220 TC-O, STIHL’s most powerful cordless top handle chainsaws, designed for professional use by trained arborists. The STIHL MSA 220 T models are a fantastic alternative to the petrol MS 201 TC-M chainsaw and are more than capable of cutting large trunks, as well as reduction cuts in the tree canopy.
The STIHL 220 T boasts a compact and well-balanced design, making it is easy to handle even in awkward or outstretched positions. The intuitive trigger lockout system is simple to use, and the electronic unlock button is within easy reach of the operator's thumb. The status LED will light up green when the cordless chainsaw is ready for use, and the chain brake LED will light up red when the chain brake is engaged, making it clear when the chainsaw is ready for operation. The machine will deactivate a second after the trigger lockout switch is released, putting the operator in full control of when the machine is live.
The MSA 220 TC-O model features a chain oil sensor, designed to alert the user when the chain oil needs topping up via a bright red LED light on the handle display. This helps to prevent premature wear of the guide bar and chainsaw chain, as well as avoiding climbing up the tree to find you have no oil! Both cordless top handle chainsaws also feature an adjustable oil pump, so you can customise the oil output to match the application or guide bar length at hand.
Just like the STIHL MS 201 TC-M, the 220 T’s have a sprocket cover with captive nut, easy to use side chain tensioner, steel bumper spikes and a black felling line for making accurate cuts. With the STIHL AP 300 S battery, the 220 T cordless chainsaw can match the MS 201’s power output too! We do not recommend using the MSA 220 T models with any battery smaller than an AP 300 S, as this will reduce both the working time and the performance. The AP 300 S battery can be fully charged in 45 minutes with the STIHL AL 500 quick charger and will give up to 29 minutes of working time depending on what’s being cut and how it’s used.

The motor and electronic components are air cooled and protected from dirt by an easily accessible fleece air filter. The filter needs to be cleaned regularly to prevent heat build-up. To do this we recommend using STIHL VarioClean, our cleaning agent specifically designed for this task. Spray on both sides of the filter, leave for 10 minutes then rinse gently with water and leave to dry.

Like all our STIHL AP System cordless tools, the MSA 220 T is compatible with STIHL Smart Connectors. The Connector will record the runtime of the tool and transmits the data to the STIHL Connected App via Bluetooth. You’ll know exactly when to complete certain maintenance tasks, such as cleaning the air filter or dressing the guide bar, and have an accurate record of exactly how much work your tool has done.

I am not so sure if I with trade my 161T for this one because it seems bulkier and heavier not making things easier when on a top of a tree.

Ive noticed this is your second post thinking this is to replace the 161T. Its not this is the felling option saw. Its designed to compliment the arsenal. 161 for prunes 220 for fells

@@jakejames9041 You maybe right but if the purpose is for felling then may prefer it in the two hands configuration. I have the 220C in the 2 hands configuration and the 161T if I stand on the top of a tree I prefer the 161T and with an AP200 battery because is light if I am on the ground I go with 220C and an AP300S battery for more power and better control. However you maybe a better expert then me.

@@sirvozelo1 oh I meant felling/dismantling the tree while climbing. Its essentially trying to replace the ms 200t. I have the 161 for prunes ive used the husky electric which is very good. However ive been hoping for a stihl option as not to be buying a second battery system. The video hasnt got me convinced though

@@jakejames9041 I am not a professional but so far I am very happy with 161T, in fact I am happy with all 3 161T, 220C and MSA300 the problem with this last two is the battery running time.

I also have thoes same 3 saws and with say the same about batteries run time. Now on the 220C I install the new 04 Light bar witch is 35cm instead of the 40cm Rollamatic I went cut oaks yestarday and in fact I end up with feeling it's litle faster but in regard to battery time feels kind same.

Great saw but as I've said in the past you'll probably have to wait 3 years to get one. I'm still waiting for my saw that I ordered from Stihl right back at the start of this year with broken promises after broken promises!!!

@@STIHLGB that's not true I keep replying to you but you still haven't supplied me with my saw! I'm not going to give out personal information on here as you have requested. I have contacted at least 8 UK Stihl dealers about the msa300 all say they are still waiting for stock from Stihl and they keep chasing up and they are as frustrated as I am in fact we are come up with a new name for Stihl it's "Stihl waiting...." I don't know why you keep pretending that there isn't a problem when there clearly is. As you can see from the comments I'm not the only person who is having this problem with Stihl!!!

@@STIHLGB not quite true there - I was actually in the store and I heard the entire phone call from my local dealer to Stihl direct and was told lies after lies from still. Also as I said before I've had the same response from at least 8 Stihl dealers all very frustrated with Stihl customer service so it certainly isn't good enough. I will try again tomorrow and keep you posted on the outcome but I'm not getting my hopes up as Stihl keeps letting me down!!

@@scoobygregwrx I don't know your location, I am in Portugal and live in border with Spain 7 months ago I have same problem with Stihl MSA300 I went in Stihl dealers in both country's and can not got one, then I buy one online from a dealer in Holland. 2 days ago I went to a dealer in Spain and it still not available in either country Portugal and Spain. I have one but even the 135 Trimmer is hard to find here people buy faster then they produce seemed like.

Hi there, thank you for your comment. The oil sensor does just what you suggested. When the oil level is low a red light on the handle display will turn on, alerting you that you need to top up your chain oil. Thanks, STIHL GB

Why is Stihl advertising these saws. Is there a year or more waiting list to get one?? I ordered a cordless 94 R hedge trimmer in February and originally a 2 week waiting list. Stihl waiting. I wouldn't RECOMMEND STIHL TO ANYONE AS CUSTOMER SERVICE IS SHOCKING!! I recently ordered strimmer 135R and I'm told December, well we all know it will be even longer than that. My professional 7 series mower broke down recently and I waited 3 months for the part. I'm a professional gardener and they couldn't take a part of another mower to help me get back to work. Stihl MAKE EXCELLENT TOOLS BUT GETTING HOLD OF ANYTHING IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT.

They are available for STIHL Approved Dealers to order now (and they have been placing orders) and the first deliveries will be in September. It's worth speaking to your dealer to see if they have already placed an order, as they will be delivered to dealers on a first come, first served basis.
