Cool knives. The original m16 was one of my first tactical knives. Great to see the deadbolt upgrade. Sadly assisted opening isnt allowed in my place

That's a good reason for CRKT to, also, offer these in a Manual Version. My first Liner-Lock Folder was a CRKT M16. I will bet that many of us started out with one of the CRKT, Kit Carson Series of Tactical Folders, for our first Tactical Folder... :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

I love the deadbolt idea but the pivot that keeps on loosening itself made me sell the clever girl. Is it still like that on the new models?

Yes. That is one thing CRKT needs to go back to the drawing board on... The only way I have been able to stop it is with Red Loctite. And, on the assisted models, that doesn't even work. I agree, great knives but they need to improve on their pivots. I totally get what you're talking about. That's why I don't recommend them as being great fidget knives. I dig your Bikes, Bro! :-) Do you know if anybody is making bearings for the AD20S? I would like to get a couple sets of those, too... :-) I have all of the Demo AD20.5 Folders that I am going to buy, too... Unless, the Demko Brothers come out with some new higher-end options for them... :-) The rest of my parts for modding my AD20.5 Folders should be here soon. I will do a final Video on them, then, and then, move on to other Folders I find interesting this year. This New Model of the M16-03 is sweet. These, two, are my personal favorite CRKT M16 Models. With the Deadbolt, they are truly great Folders... :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

Yeah, good, but does the blade move up & down, side to side when deployed?

When new and properly adjusted, no. But, this Model will loosen fairly quick and will need constant maintenance to keep it adjusted right. And, the Deadbolt doesn't self-adjust itself well and can wear down and cause Blade Play. I really, absolutely luv this Model. And, I also absolutely luv the other Models in this Series of Deadbolt Folders from CRKT. But, the one flaw I found with the Deadbolt Folders is that they require a lot of constant maintenance, and after a lot of fidgeting, the Deadbolt, itself, wears and creates up and down Blade Play. That's why you don't see Deadbolt Folders in my Rotation Drawer... Though, I do own a lot of Flavio Ikoma Deadbolt Folders and I absolutely trust them. I don't recommend them to People unless they can handle a lot of Knife Maintenance. :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

This isn't the best knife in my collection, but it's the most badass and the one that just seems to fit. This is more than just a knife, there's a real connection here as soon as I opened the box.

My Clever Girl has developed up and down blade play, not super bad, due to the actual wear done to it's Deadbolt. The Deadbolt, itself, is softer than the Blade Tang. And, with a lot of fidgeting, it will wear down. It would be a simple fix, if CRKT could send us another Deadbolt. Is that what you mean? :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

I just unboxed the Cold Steel Vaquero, plain edge. The grip is great. It has a scalpel-sharp blade that is centered perfectly, and it opens with ease. This is a rotation EDC. Thank you for all your vital information. ✝🛐🙏😇💝

I have the 02 db , i just wish the spring was a little bit less stiff. It's hard to open because of the strength of the spring and the very small finger hold. How would you go about making the spring less stiff for easier opening ?

@@Kris_Stiletto Well i found the 02 version a bit too hard to open because of the small knob. I weakened the spring just a little bit by grinding it with a dremel (making the longest 'straight' wire just a bit thinner. Now it opens like a dream and even with sweaty hand it'll open very comfortably

I thought these CRKT M-16 knifes were between $36.99 and $56.99 why is this version $119? I think you said. Does the deadbolt lock mechanism alone double the cost? Or is the blade also upgraded from the usual 8CR13MoV/ 12C27/ AUS 8 to like a CPM super steel?

Well, it does have CRKT's super lock, the Flavio Ikoma Deadbolt and Flavio's IKBS Ball Bearing System. And, they are D-2 and have the Ken Onion Assist. The handle scales on the M16 are solid Aluminum with thick SS Liners. With that said, I absolutely luv my CRKT Deadbolt Folders. But, they have one issue. The Pivot comes loose too easily. Myself, I just re-tighten the pivot; it can be a pain in the... Especially, if you don't like maintaining your folders... :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

@@Kris_Stiletto Yes that ikbs bearing system is sweet, after watching your video I did a little research on it👍. I've heard people talking before about ikbs bearings, but I just assumed they were just certain brand of caged bearings. Basically I'm interested in one of these M-16's, but I don't have the coin to get this model in the video. By any chance do you know which version is the closest to the one you just got, but with a liner lock or frame lock, unassisted and unfortunately probably a lesser blade steel as well? Over the past few years I've gotten used to getting D2 for $38 to $50. I like CRKT I just wish they would use more D2 in their budget knives. I did hear recently that they are going to start doing that, so will see. I wish there were a in depth video of all the different versions comparing them. Maybe Blade HQ or Knife Center might have a video on the M16 family, I'm going to check. There are so many different versions of this knife with so many different blade steels and slight differences, my head is spinning😂. Thanks again for showcasing this knife👍.

Yes, the CRKT M16-04KS. It's the Frame-Lock Version with 12C27 Sandvik SS for around $50 or so... :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

It's likely an old price before everything started skyrocketing😒. Who knows maybe I'm wrong, I would be really stoked to get that for $44.95☺👍!

The only problem looks to be the closing, clumsy for the non shut action. I’m sure you get use to it.

The CRKT Deadbolts are some super strong Knives. And, the Assisted Deadbolts open like Autos. But, I found they have an issue with the pivots coming loose, too easily. But, other than that, they absolutely "ROCK!!!" And, even when the pivot comes loose, the folder is still safe and locks up securely. I hope this helps... :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)
