Hi, Efra ✌🏻 The type of percussions you're hearing in the song are known to be used almost all the time in Khaleeji (middle east) songs and so it makes sense that as Qatar is the host they'd use it to represent their country.. However, the live version of the song you saw that FIFA uploaded on their channel cut off the last part of the song / perfomance.. because at the end of the video you watched, another Qatari singer joined him on stage and sang in arabic and then they ended the performance together.. if you see the whole performance in another video, and considering how he was joined by an arab singer who's originally a Qatari AND sings in arabic, the whole percussion thing / question you had will make sense.. And that singer (Fahad al-Kubaissi) has a great voice too.. Peace and love 🤍

Yes the song is arabic influenced and the beginning is what arab sailors used to sing in the sea so they took that part and the drums are khaliji style

He never acknowledged qatarian officials nor spoke about his support to whatever movement that country has, even went to qatar for a like a week, and was never seen accompanied by any qatarian influencer or such like how in other countries that bts visit. He went there solely for the team of korea and to represent his country for it is indeed a united meeting of different countries, sadly hosted by a country with “bad reputation”.

this was produced by RedOne , a moroccan producer who worked a lot with artists like Jlo, Pitbull, Enrique Iglesias, Daddy Yankee, Paulina... I think that's why his music always sound a little bit "reggaetonish" , and a lot of other influences obviously arabic, and african ones.He produced songs like poker face, just dance, on the floor, don't you need somebody, rain over me and a lot more... he was nominated 10 times for the grammys and won three so he is a bit of a legend. And jungkook did great of course, and this performance kinda changed the way I see him now, I knew what he is capable of , but I guess now I have the same feeling Hobipalooza gave me.

Ok but when the Arab/Qatari singer (Fahad Al Kubaisi) came on stage and started singing in Arabic I went CRAZY. The vocals were beautiful and just the whole atmosphere. My Middle Eastern and Muslim self was honestly in disbelief of the whole opening ceremony. The culture was showcased and they gave a platform to people with disabilities while also providing a beautiful Quran verse that basically spread the message of unity (and ofc BBC alongside many other broadcast stations decided to not air it and The Guardian instead mocked it😀) and then they gave respect to all past World Cup songs and then we got a collab stage between a Korean artist and Arab artist. This was the best opening ceremony by any World Cup and it definitely spread the message about football bringing us together

The song actually included chants in Arabic which are often used in Arabic songs. The back up vocals are done by the artist Fahad who was also featured on the performance and those type of vocals are also used often in Arab music especially in Qatar, Saudi etc

And I agree, this was probably crazy hard when it's such a huge stage but jk and their team have no creative control over anything. I think it's a bit ridiculous that they gave him all his direction and choreo so last minute. If it was his team, they probably would have been rehearsing for a few weeks to a month rather than a few days.

My cousin is part of the volunteers that performed in the FIFA opening ceremonies (the dancers in blue with lights) and she saw Jung Kook up close. She said he has the sweetest smile and she's very lucky to perform with him. My cousinis part of the group of Filipinos who danced. :)

The organization and preparation was so weird and probably rushed, last minute I think a lot of things didn't go as planned... he didn't have proper rehearsals and learned once he was there through a video a day before and was the only performer... Why couldn't they send him a video earlier?? Jk pulled it off like a pro but i kinda sensed that he was frustrated by the organization didn't do as much as he wish he would.
