these vids always come out when I really need it, I've just started diving back into a WIP I've been working on and off since I was 17 (I turn 21 in almost exactly a month), and I just finally hit that "oh yea, it's all comin together" kronk gif ya know? And like I had that moment where I was ranting to a friend and it helped me flesh out this additional idea. Best part is, the basics - aka familial dynamics, blood not being everything, family tension, internal turmoil, and confronting mental health and how it can be debilitating. And this piece has always been planned to be dark, gritty, but also just beautiful and haunting and adult high fantasy, but now as an actual 20+ year old I feel like I'm actually able to get the voice out better. It probably helps I've read way more this year than I have since starting college, and I'm letting myself take my time with it.

It's easier if you have a motivational group to write with sometimes. Try doing writing sprints, The Revised Writer is a good one. They use the pomodoro technique which is 25 minutes of writing and then a short break to chat and relax.

My last book took me almost four years to finish writing, so my best advice is: Take the time you need. Every book has its own time... And the more you think about, things will just get worse.

In the novel I'm working on, I've been on a loose outline too. I try to focus on the bigger moments then shift on the smaller details later.

Reminds me that I'm not alone in the storytelling confusion and blockage. Currently trying to write my first book, and I'm absolutely shocked that I've passed 36,000 words. I'm writing a YA fantasy so if it end with 100,000 I'm going to be shouting from a rooftop! Can't wait for another writing update, keep grinding!

Haha! I love not showing the word count! It gives me less anxiety. I also have been having a problem with inspiration, like I am writing this short story and I was waiting for it to hit, because I didn't really know where it was going and how it was going to end, then BAM! Inspiration hit, like a bolt of lighting! I know how you feel with the social media and the word count, my friend!

Always love seeing updates!! I’ve made my own writing playlist as a lot of the chapter titles in my book are based off song titles. Most of my break through a happen in the car while I am driving which is so inconvenient lol

I love how you always post a writing vlog a week after I've tried to dive back into my horcrux again 🤣 I'm trying Stephen Kings method of doing 6 pages a day and making them good atm which is working really well 🙌 but that's cos I've got to redo act 1 and check it all makes sense and the pacing is right before going into the complexity of act 2... 🤣 I keep telling myself it's fine; I've been super ill with a cold for like a month, I have a stressful job and it's not surprising its taking me so long. But also I want it finished yesterday 🤦‍♀️
