As a writer working on my first book this is so true. The more distracted i get on my phone he worse I do with my writing. It never works well when I’m not focused. As soon as I get rid of the phone and other media it’s like a key turns in my brain and the writing flows better. My best ideas come when my mind can just wander without the distractions

I took a hiatus of social media earlier this past year because I basically had a mental break down, but it reminded me of what I really wanted to do, and what made me happy. I only got back to social media because I needed it to find roommates for my internships, but I think it's good to take healthy breaks from social media and I actually starting writing the book that I've been talking about for years.

@aspiringauthorerinrail28905 жыл бұрын
Omg, I have the same problem too with social media!I have this problem when it comes to both writing, and doing homework. I know when I went to your book signing with my cousin, when we were at dinner, she was texting her boyfriend, and I asked her what they were talking about, and she said he has a paper to write, and he was complaining that he can't get it done, because he's on KZbin, and I told her, what I'll tell you, what I do is I put my phone in another room, and I won't look at it, and I'll tell myself "If you get this much done, then you can go on your phone" and it works! It motivates me to get work done, and it make me go faster. That only works if I start my work day without looking a my phone, but if I look at my phone earlier on in the day, that's a different story, so go with my first plan, and don't look at your phone haha. Another thing I do is, when I work late at night when I'm writing, I put my phone at a distance, in the same room, and I know I won't get up to look at it because I'm extremely lazy, and also I work late, so I know that no one isn't posting that late (maybe some people), so there is no reason to look. So maybe do that, maybe it will work for you. Keep up the good work Christine, don't let social media take over your life. You rock! Keep being awesome.

Polish version? heck yeah. I will be able to finally read it. And translating jokes is hard. Most of the time the translator localize the jokes/puns so that readers understand them without knowing the original phrase. With music and references footnotes are used
@thedragon64805 жыл бұрын
Agreed with all you said. I would add that sometimes, if a joke gets a bit lost in translation, or if it needs you to understand a certain reference for it to work, then they also use footnotes to explain that.

Ok I love this video this was so refreshing...and actually inspired me to do my own break from social media. I'm actually not super addicted but I still think I could use it less. I think I'm addicted to always having something to do on my phone, not social media. But then social media has a negative impact on my mental health and emotions as well, as I'm sure for so many people it does. And on my time, like you said, you've finally been able to step into your own thoughts and creativity and do the things you want to now. Anyways, just wanted to say I was very inspired by this and proud to see a booktuber sharing so much wisdom with the world

YES! A Polish version! And actually "romance" is "romans" in Polish so it can stay the same even with translation. Translation of lyrics is tricky because of how popular the song is and how it flows with the rest - personally I prefer the translation of songs to be added at the bottom of the page as some kind of additional reference;)

They did a study at Borland about letting software developers answer customer questions on the phone. They discovered that after the interruption it took nearly 20 minutes for the developer to get back to the level of immersion & productivity they had before the phone call. Developers ARE writers so I suspect every time you are distracted, your productivity drops a similar amount.

Oh my goodness I related to this video SO much. My new year’s resolution for 2019 was actually to focus on myself by cutting out social media as much as possible and it’s helped so much! I only check Instagram and Facebook in the morning when I wake up for 5 minutes and before bed for 5 minutes, and I can only scroll through Twitter if I’m waiting in a line by myself. It’s really made me realize how much people need social media constantly and compare themselves to others on social media. I’ve also realized how much people feel the need to check social media even when they’re hanging out with other people that they can talk to! It’s crazy! But being social media free has allowed me to find more reliable sources of news and learn to love my own company so much more! Which is pretty strange as an extrovert. ALSO YOU BETTER KNOW THAT I KNOW THAT THAT VIDEO IS ICEBREAKERS AND I NOTICED THE REFERENCE WHEN READING ABB! XD tween me loved og polandbananas20 sketch videos, haha

One thing that helps for staying off of social media is setting a time of day when you're "allowed" to use it. For example, if you write best earlier in the day, don't let yourself go on twitter until after 3 or 4 pm :) If you write best in the evening, don't let yourself go on social media during a certain set of hours that you want to write :) It's crazy to think that your title has to change in other languages XD Also, all of the references...that's so funny XD
