Not sure if this logic is solid. Weak piriformis causes pain not in itself but by pressing sciatic nerve. It happens when it is tense. And muscle can be tensed even in theoretically relaxed positions.

Since when is the piriformis muscle pressing on the sciatic nerve something that causes pain? If just one painfree person has a sciatica nerve that is contacted/pressed on by the piriformis- then the logic falls apart.
