This entire gig is probably the greatest recorded drum performance ever! It has everything, I played it to death in the 90's. Jazz, reggae, impeccable groove, power, precision, incredible licks and a smattering of double bass!!! There's nobody else out there that could have played this gig with the same quality, variety and intent to that level...

This was a brilliant tour. I saw the Ten Summoners Tales tour at The Royal Albert Hall, London, and it rocked. The sound was amazing, and these four playing together was awesome. I went to 4 other Sting gigs after that one, and none of them were as good as that. Why oh why there were never a DVD of this Oslo gig.

The best solo in my opinion that Dominic has done on this song was 2/22/94 New Jersey. Can be heard on the bootleg "King of New Jersey". It rocks harder than this, the distortion is turned up, and he makes that old Strat absolutely SCREAM.

Sting has ALWAYS been one of my favorites. This is a great live performance. Sting's May 1994 Berklee Commencement Address was an AMAZING read. I will never forget his words. So true what he said about Samuel Barber's "Adagio for Strings." That hit me hard. Sting is another gifted musician that I never get tired of listening to.

Wow, what a line up. I've said it on many other videos, but David Sancious is one of the great keyboardists of the last 40 years. He absolutely kills it every time he plays. I was lucky enough to see him play with Jeff Beck a couple of years ago and it ruled.

I think Vinny was on fire that night. I always swear by what Omar had done when Sting was on his "Dream of the Blue Turtles" tour but that samba-Latin style Vinny plays at the beginning is out-of-this-world good. I keep playing that part over and over again.

@jjprulz Жыл бұрын
@@ianseward9928 Sting is used to playing in front of amazing drummers. I'm convinced that being in a band with Stewart Copeland spoiled Sting when it comes to percussion, so in his solo work he makes sure he has the best drummer he can hire.

This tour was fantastic, I saw this at the albert hall in London. It was pure raw energy, Vinnie got to shine. Stings tours after this one lacked that. I still loved them, but not as good as this line up. David Sancious was good. But you sort of always thought... mmmm, Kenny should be playing this, and you know he'd cream it too. I've still got this on VHS recorded off the TV. I wish this got the DVD treatment.

I saw this same lineup on the Soul Cages tour in 1991 and they played this. There was a vhs released of a show on that tour simply called, "The Soul Cages Concert." It was almost the same exact setlist that I saw. It was a great concert video but I eventually wore mine out.I've always wanted to see that concert get released on DVD, but if A&M hasn't done it by now, it's never going to happen. I have the concert on a pro audio cassette but its been played so much, there are audio dropouts in spots. Would love just to have the audio tracks. If you do a search for it, you will find it, but its not available from places like amazon etc, its from an independent source.

It is great, and Sancious is awesome, but he did get beat on this solo. There used to be a video on KZbin of Russ Irwin playing with the band and doing this solo. If Kirkland was a 10, and Sancious was an 8+, Irwin was a 13. Seriously, if you ever have a chance to hear him soloing this with Sting's band it's just MONSTROUS!
