Stinging Nettle with David Winston + Green Powder Spice Blend

I was that odd child, always picking wild flowers and exploring the woods around my home, we had a public playground and a pond behind my house and my friends abandoned me more then once to go play. My first plant calling were very fragrant blue violets by the stream in the woods, it was like David said, they tried to get my attention, I was 5. Then at age 7 a hedgerow of rosehip on a wall seemed to just beg for attention, girlfriend left and I picked rosehip for my mom. Later in life, my thirties, I kept riding my horse past these shrubs that just glowed at me , couldn't figure out if it was a rose or an apple, that plant later in life got rid of my bloodpressure medications, hawthorn. Now in my 60s, have been watching this little plant in my yard, trying to draw my attention for years, always fondly thought of it as a pollinators plant, took me a while to figure out, then it helped me through a viral infection, heal all or self heal. Seems like when you need something you can almost always find it nearby.

I could listen for hours, what a wonderful teacher. He brought back some powerful memories. My grandfather used to take me to a big red ant hill that he would bury his arthritic hands in, smelled like sulfur when those ants got riled up, he swore it helped his arthritis. Probably similar stimulation as with bee venom or stinging nettle.

I love nettles and drink the tea all the time, nothing better for when the heat is tapping my energy, better than plain water always, it is amazing. Thanks so much for this interview, David is great! I was a loner as a kid too and only happy in nature, we could've been friends, not many wanted to hang out with me and I was too shy to approach them. Isn't it amazing what God has given us in His boundless love for us? I own Rosemary's book(s) now am going to get Davids, thank-you David for your generosity.

Oh yes, I'm not even that versed in herbs, but when I started paying attention to plants, I've been literally called to a shrub or a plant that turned out to be very helpful. All they need is our curiosity and respect, they'll teach us what we need to do.

I am enjoying a cup of stinging nettle tea while watching this. I harvested the nettle from my yard a few hours ago. Didn't mix it with any of my other herbs but am thinking it'll be good with Lemon Balm. I'm new to using nettles and the more I'm learning about them, the more fascinating I'm finding them to be. So many of the things he says resonated with me very much. I'm still an intuitive and self taught herbalist and now in my late forties I am seriously thinking about taking my studies to the next level. Will be looking into that course next year... I personally have had a 30 year love affair with nettles. Now I am intrigued to make more things with the nettle seeds other than just using them like chia seeds. I got my own funny story about nettle. One fall I bought a blueberry twig and planted it. In the spring I checked it to see if it survived. I saw pretty little leaves and stems so I transplanted them into pots so I could have multiple blueberries. When they got a little bigger I quickly found them painful to touch. I had transplanted many nettles. I wish now I had kept them.

Loving this great information. He's so full of great knowledge. I'm only halfway through the video, you may mention this at some point. It's not just complex herb combinations to help and heal..... people have got to stop consuming the "poison" (in my opinion) from the local grocery store as well. Sometimes I struggle with that part of healing.

My grandmother once hid Easter eggs in her garden near a patch of stinging nettle. I was the lucky 8 year old who went running through the giant nettle patch to get a tiny piece of chocolate in an egg. Soooo not worth it 😂

I'm a plant newbie, I'd just like to mention that I was able to keep my late mother's one kidney function stable at around 33 -35% for many years using nano particle liquid magnesium, following the research done by Dr Carolyn Dean. I would have added in nettle seed tincture had I known about it! She died at 82 of unrelated issue. Much love.

I have recently heard that acacia gum, or gum Arabic has been used in the Near to Middle East to cure stage 4 kidney disease and was used as an Eastern remedy for kidney issues where dialysis was not available. Have you heard of the benefits of Acacia in this respect by any chance ?

Wood nettle is an entirely different plant. It is edible like nettles, but doesn't share a lot of the same properties.

I recently harvested some stinging nettle. For the first time I sifted a bunch in a large basket. Wow, there were literally hundreds of tiny bugs falling out. Some little green ones actually looked almost exactly like the flower/seeds. Do you have any experience with this?..

When I harvest nettles I don't see a lot of bugs on them. It makes me wonder if that was a healthy patch...sometimes bug infestations happen when the plants are weak.

I grow nettles in a large raised bed. But also where I live they don't grow as vigorously. Even still, I'm happy to have them around.

Hi, I checked several resources and the most common is nettle leaf (not powdered) at 28 grams (or 1 oz by weight). I found one book that referenced capsules at 500-1,000 mg (which is usually powdered herb). ~Karin Rose

It is technically gluten free. However there are two issues. Oats are commonly processed in facilities that also process wheat. This isn't often the case with oatstraw though. And some people who react to gluten react to similar proteins in oats. But, that being said, I know a lot of people who avoid gluten but do fine with oat straw.
