I like wheel landings with a crosswind... that Stinson gear soaks up the bumps pretty well. She is no Lycoming, but she is smooooth.
@GreatMichiganBushCo5 жыл бұрын
Striker here. The tail on Striker's 108-3 makes crosswind landings a challenge. Scooter can handle a good crosswind landing notwithstanding. My 170B is less of a challenge by design. Not a bad idea for a video. . .

@@GreatMichiganBushCo Have a 3 and sometimes that tail can be a handful. No problem but you know its back there in a cross. You can feel the gusts hit it and try to turn the plane.
@GreatMichiganBushCo5 жыл бұрын
@@hwalter5432 I am going to sell this 3 when I find a 2 or 1 I like I find 20kts cross about all I feel comfortable with and I have had to divert to a straighter runway in the past... Can't have this. I sure like the 3 in cruise though, flies like it has yaw dampers.

there were as many Stinson 108's built as C170's and still about the same amount flying. The 108 is just such a more capable aircraft.

Would a Stinson 108 be a good first plane, or better second one in the future?
@GreatMichiganBushCo5 жыл бұрын
Marcus Ashlock that’s a tough call. This is the third airplane I (Scooter) have owned. It is my favorite. There are a few quirks that make it unique from an owners standpoint. The main query is the need to have a mechanic who is willing to learn or knows the Franklin engine. Besides that univair provides great support in the airframe side. As far as flying the plane flies well with the -3 having some ground handling challenges that the other models don’t. If you are a low time tailwheel pilot I might stick to a -1 or -2. If you have a little experience the -3 is a fabulous flying airplane. Riddle’s first plane was a 108 and 8 don’t think he has any regrets.

I'd strongly recommend the Stinson for a first plane. My first owned plane is a 108-2. Super friendly airplane, and my wife loves that we can load up the family for the weekend (not something you find at this price point). Disclaimer: I have about 2500 hrs military and maybe 200 civilian, so my opinion may be skewed.

Nice plane, nice video but the VOX system you have has a lot of popping when you start to talk. I know the VOX systems are difficult to tune and eliminate this distraction but if you can do anything about it please do. I used one for a few months and kept having the controllers ask me to repeat what I said so I finally ditched it and starting using the Push to Talk button again.
@GreatMichiganBushCo4 жыл бұрын
😂 That's a lot to ask. Good for me I sold the plane and purchased a new one. The problem is not the intercom or the radios. It has to do o with the cords and audio in with the cameras. The new intercom does not seem to work better with the audio I can control the output level on the intercom better.

@@GreatMichiganBushCo Well I guess we will have to get used to it. I just found your channel and like it a lot. I used to own a Stinson 108-2. Very nice plane. I sold it and bought a Cessna 310. Then I aged to the point I couldn't really fly anymore so I sold it! Been several years since then but I do miss flying. Your videos are well made and entertaining. keep up the good work. Thank you.

I wish I could get good engine sounds while the plane is flying. It ends up just being a staticy mess. So you need to film something. Without proper film creation training I struggled with sound/music for a while, this was one of my very early videos. t's gotten better in newer videos, but I still struggle. Thanks for watching and thanks for your input.
