I just came across your video’s (actually I first watched your fabric storage/folding video) and I subscribed immediately! I was having a horrible day, but there is something so friendly and bright about your voice and channel, it made me smile! My Grandma was a quilter and also a very talented sewer, she left me all her beautiful stuff including her sewing machine (which I am NO WHERE NEAR close to using yet). My creative side was more towards photography & writing. Then I was in an accident about 6 1/2 years ago, it was hard at the time, but my physical therapist gave me knitting needles for physical therapy for my hands (I have a brain injury as well) and also taught me different ways of incorporating my photography in art (until I could hold my camera again), and different ways of expressing my emotions using my creative side - journaling, painting, etc. In that time I learned to sew, and developed more creative skills than I EVER HAD before. I believe everything happens for a reason, and I wouldn’t change anything about my life today, despite living with chronic illnesses, I’m happy & I never would have discovered my talents or love for creating if I hadn’t experienced the bad. Its also a way for me to be close to my grandma, even though she is no longer here. When I went through all of her sewing and quilting things, she left detailed notes for me, explaining what each tool was, what it did - she even drew pictures! I cried because I wish I had spent that time with her when she was still alive. I was in high school when she passed, her last note to me told me she understood the distance between us and high school life were both hard and busy for me, she was so proud of me and she knew I loved her more than anything. She was right, I still think about her everyday. Honestly I think that’s what your channel made me smile - you remind me a lot of her (I watch a lot of sewing on youtube - for inspiration, help and ideas and no one has EVER reminded me of my grandma, that is a compliment!). When I was watching your video on folding & storing fabric it was very easy to understand, regardless of where you were in the process- new, maybe looking for a different solution, or maybe just unorganized- the video was not directed to ‘beginners” (as an example) it just felt very natural, like talking to a friend! That is exactly how my grandma used to explain things, she never made anyone feel less than, or that she was more knowledgeable than anyone because she was explaining or teaching something. I appreciate that very much, especially when you are trying to learn. I understand everyone has different ways & others learn differently- personally this was very helpful for me. Your new place is beautiful too! Congratulations! That would be a dream working from a place like that, its out of a storybook!! I live in the country in the United States - but your view beats mine hands down!! Thank you again and very much looking forward to watching/learning from you! I hope you are enjoying your new space!
