I used to have a 99 Honda Civic 2 Door, which is basically the same as the 95, and can confirm it was great for lumber. Despite it's apparent small size, I was able to get 10 footers in there fairly easily. Then I got a Subaru Outback, and despite it's apparent larger size, it may have actually been worse for lumber; but it had more capacity for volume and weight, for sure. A few years ago I was able to buy my neighbor's 05 Chevy Silverado: a basic work truck with crank down windows, a standard cab, and an 8 foot bed. It wouldn't work as my primary vehicle, but for its specific purpose it's great. Tasks that are possible with the Subaru are easy with the truck, and tasks that were impossible are now possible. Cargo is exposed to the weather, though, and I can see how a van/minivan would offer advantages.

I’ve found that a 4X8 sheet of plywood fits comfortably in a Suburban. I can haul most completed furniture pieces without exposing them to the weather. It also works well as a tow vehicle.

1996 Ford Ranger 3.0 liter extended cab. With gate down accommodates 8 foot long lumber, with wood stretchers across the bed supports it will take 4x8 sheet goods. plenty of room behind the seats for other items inside the cab.

SUV (KIA Sorento) with roof racks works pretty well. Mike is right, it has to do a lot of things. I can fit 8 foot boards inside with no issue. I have a cordless circ saw a and jig saw for breaking down plywood. Still miss my 96 Tahoe with roof rack. That was a fabulous wood hauler.

Menards where I live rents out a truck for like 30 dollars for the first hour. Could be an option for some people

Just have a separate trailer for the few times you want to pick up lumber.

A minivan IS the correct answer for a "moving things" vehicle.

Ive had an F150 for a year now and its crap for woodworking. I wish I still had my RX350. That thing would haul everything and would run forever.
