I'm confused at the word bone stock, because those 4Runners didn't come stock with Bilsteins a 3-in lift and 285 70 R17. So basically what you meant to say is mild upgrades to a once stock truck.
@boondocksoverlandandoutdoors3 жыл бұрын
@RonDemeio Haha ah man you got me there Haha I say "bone stock" in comparison to my 84 Toyota which is regeared, lockers front and back along with dual transfer cases and built front axle with chromoly shafts etc...that's why to me some shocks and tires on the 4runner is "pretty much stock" haha

Man in my 07 4Runner I just keep my foot on the throttle and the traction control always figures it out, doesn't matter if I'm in 4lo or not. I've been really surprised with it, it has gone everywhere my 05 TJ Rubicon on 35s went and then some. I do have the same size tire you have with the cheap Daystar 2.5" spacer lift, but I'm running Milestar Patagonias. Love the 4th gen 4Runner content, KZbin needs more of it!

No doubt. !!! Right out the Gate! I have never been. I bought mine 13 months ago and have wheeled in the snow . I flipped out with all the alarm sounds going off when getting sideways and I guess drifting then it would straighten me out . Wheeling in the Outer Banks N.C was fun not crazy the wife’s 1st time. A long drive a complete circle to get where I wanted in Corola N.C just South of Virginia Beach. Straight line would be 15 minutes but no if you don’t have plates that are grandfathered in so 1.45 drive

I have an 05 4runner v8 4x4 and I swear I've done harder trails.... Like others have said, it might be your tires. Make sure to air down, and unless your talking about a super steep climb, I avoid the ruts, makes it easier to go over things. FYI, all I have is a entry level fox suspension, durtract A/T tires (probably the most aggressive AT tires you can get) and that's pretty much it!!!!
@boondocksoverlandandoutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Yea these tires are pretty much street tires, but very surprised on how well they do on and off-road I actually took those same set of tires on a 4K round trip out west and they did awesome, but this climb on the video was pretty steep of course video will never give justice lol but yea eventually I’ll be swapping out these tires soon, I recently purchased some Mickey Thompsons Baja boss for m Tundra and really have been impressed by them plus they look sweet!

The 4th Gen have what Toyota calls Multi Mode 4wd. You can be in 4wd without locking, what they call the "center diff" which is actually the transfer case. It's like 4wd with traction control. Basically the tire with the most traction gets more power. I know this because I just bought a 2007 Limited 4x4 and I hate the multi mode crap. Better to lock the "center diff", loose the traction control, and drive it like you would any other 4wd vehicle. In much of the video he didn't have the transfer case locked as you can see by the front tire spinning while the rears didn't move. Hope this helps some to understand how this works in a 4th gen 4Runner. Later
