What is difference between aim 7e and the aim 7e-2

he AIM-7E-2. It's identical to the AIM-7E except that it tracks much sooner, 0.7 seconds off the rail instead of 1.8 seconds, so it's a straight upgrade in that sense. At longer ranges the missiles are pretty much identical, but the earlier tracking of the 7E-2 still provides an advantage. The 7E-2 is even a decent alternative to the much longer-ranged AIM-7F, since the 7E-2 is lighter and accelerates much more quickly. Even with a shorter burn time and that 0.7 second delay, it often tracks targets at short ranges better than the 7F.
