Stock UEL vs Aftermarket EL Header Sound Comparison (Outside, Inside) :: Subaru Impreza WRX STi

In this video you can hear the sound differences between a stock unequal length and an aftermarket equal length exhaust manifold on a Subaru. The car has a bit better spool up with the stock UEL header. The reason could be the faster cooldown of the aftermarket exhaust (thinner) ➔ slower exhaust gas speed ➔ slow turbo spool up.
Car Specs:
- Equal Length Header (Aftermarket) vs Unequal Length Header (Original)
- Stock / Maxspeed Turbo-Back Exhaust System with 200 Cell Cat
- ECU is tuned (LC) + Boost controlled with EVC Boost Controller IV
- Stock EJ207 with IHI-VF35 in this video
- FFS is programmed over a bigger Revlimiter hysteresis

Both Headers sound good, if you want the rumble stick with UEL, if you want better performance go for EL. Pretty simple

I heard the subarus from Japan have an equal lenght headers from the factory and the export models have an unequal length headers from the factory?

The special models like the S202, S203, or (I think the most) Spec C were delivered with the equel length headers but the normal versions got the unequel ones.

Did anyone notice how much easier and freely the cast revved with ELH? Even if it didn’t make more power (which I know it did), it got its power faster.

You can actually hear at 1:01 that the spool up of the UEL header is better but also I have to say that the conditions were not same, so hard to evaulate this. From my overall exeprience the stock UEL header feels better then my aftermarket ELH one. Nevertheless an another aftermarket header could perfom better.
