Propane works much better than R-134 and cheaper. A resourceful mechanic can make his own adapter.

Propane is denser than air, so if a leak occurs it will displace air and drop to the lowest point. This means it could collect into enclosed areas where there is a risk of explosion if the leaked gas comes into contact with a flame, spark or other ignition source. Nobody listens to these warnings, but they should. In 1994 I bought 2 30lb cylinders of R12 on the very last weekend it was available for consumer sale. That cost me $500 at the time but my gosh, I've used them over the last 30 years to fix the AC systems of more cars than I even remember! I still have maybe 1/3rd of a cylinder left and currently don't own any R12 vehicles, but at least those cars are still on my "buy list" due to having R12. NOTE: You can't get away with converting an original R12 car to R134a *in Florida.* If you do the volume of slightly cold air won't keep you from sweating.

Just run propane, its a drop in equivalent to r12 other than being flammable but then so is the new r600 and 123yf, never mind the only reason for r12 to be a patented product that sold in the first place was because r290(propane) is flammable and r12 was the replacement for that. Full circle back to flammable now but they still want to sell a patented gas and the patent is up on r134, just like it was on 12.

If you convert an r12 car to 134, you should put a larger condenser if you can find one that will fit. This will eliminate the reduction in capacity. Not that it isn't best just to run r12 on an r12 system, because it will perform the most efficiently, but if you do have to convert it, there are ways to improve it.

OK Hoss, jump in Hoolio's jalopy and head on down to your city or county solid waste site. Most of these now have a household-hazardous-waste division that takes all kinds of chemicals. Many of these hazardous waste sections have a recycle/reuse room where the public can snag stuff like Aircraft Remover etc. for free. You might call ahead and ask for a tech who works the site or check their websites to see if they offer this. It saves them big bucks to give this stuff away rather than detoxing it. With the money you save you can take Hoolio to the roach coach for lunch!

Sorry to say it Mike, but all forms of freon for a/c are already banned in Wa. St. Stupid happens here first. We even beat out Californicatia for highest fuel price. I put Air Duster in my 1998 Chev pickup's a/c system and it runs nice and cold. It's R-152a and you don't need as much of it to accomplish an a/c top off. It mixes with R-134 and and it mixes fine with PAG oil. An R-12 system must be washed out first, because R-152a (Air Duster) doesn't like mineral oil. You're welcome Mike! Haha!

R290 (Propane) will directly run in a R12 system, mineral oil and all. Yes it can burn if you have a wreck, so does the 1234yf in every new car and the r600 in every new fridge. And no they do not build these new cars/appliances any differently to mitigate that risk.

Used the grease on a door hinge, and it's just as good as the few drops on the other door hinges! Thanks again for all the good knowledge, tips, and trick! Wonder how it holds up around heat tho. Maybe it will quiet down the fan bearing in the diesel heater!

Well, just about everything you do to a car, for instance you would use this amzn.to/3wIDQHd before you did this process goo.gl/z9TrgR Another instance, you would use this amzn.to/3wIDQHd before you used this amzn.to/2z3oiBu which would be used before painting any plastic. Basically it's an all purpose cleaner that completely strips any grease, oil or conditioner off an item so it can be re-conditioned. Yep I played the game with R12 , I've got a few dollars worth 💰 stocked up . I've got a Dodge and a Plymouth that I still use 12 in . I been having a feeling in a while now to start stocking up on 134 Soooooo I guess it's time to start because I have a Dodge and Ford on 134 .
