STOCKMAN vs OUTBACK Chelsea Boot // Jim Green Footwear

Hi I found this a bit confusing: Stockman is: Sung opening front to back, and wider fitting as in footprint? That is the only way I understand Sung and Wide at the same. Outback is: Slimer all around and rounded around toe? Or rounder around ankle too - easier to slip in/out? My question is: Which one is going to hold my heel and ankle in place better? They both seem roomy enough for my toes - not my worry. Thanks!

I am in my second year with your stockman boot. After it was broke in it became very comfortable. I use them for work, for which they are well suited , they are also very stable when walking on ice and snow or uneven ground. I have always received quality and value from your company. I struggle to understand the difference between "snug" and "narrow". The presence of lugs on one of the sole is obvious in it's intended application. A lined boot offers more isolation from outside forces. But snug vs narrow? I feel you could have made a better choice of descriptors. I just received a pair of vellies in smooth tan leather. I wore them around the house for a couple of hours and am very pleased. They don't need "breaking" in but I look forward to them conforming more personally to my feet.

When i bought my stockman we talked about a flat sole to keep the soil from getting compacted in the luds. So the outback would fix that. Good info

I love my stockmans. They've lasted several years and well past 1000 miles. They're super comfortable even on long hikes. They've gotten a nice patina as the dye fades. The JG sole is really long wearing as well. I might need to send them back to you for a resole... Maybe in another year. 😂

LOVE my Fudge Stockmans with the honey sole. I put a light coat of Sno-Seal on mine and they turned into this wonderful light brown color with great depth. Beautiful! Super boots and extremely good value! Do have a question - why do the instructions say to not use mink oil? Curious!

Stockman was my first pair of Jim Green boots. My one complain was that it wasn't very stylish which it made up in comfort rugged durability. After watching this video I ordered the Outback for everyday wear. In Chelsea style I now have RM Willians, Veldskoen, and three versions of Jim Green boots. My favorite is still the Jim Green Town and Country for its perfect stylish boot with suits and jeans. But you need to spend a lot of time to polish it to a stunning patina.

a question to those who wear the chelsea type boots (like those two)- arent you afraid that, if you use them outside in a bad weather, they will somehow get stuck in mud and fell off? how do you ensure the fit is good around the ankle- with laced up boots that's simple, but here there is no way to make them tighter also, is that yellow leather (looks lovely btw) chrome or veg tanned?

if they are correctly sized, they do not come off your foot easily, it requires more force than the suction from mud.
