I just picked up this shotgun also. My first SemiAuto too. I have a couple of pump actions. Great Price Point and from all the research I did, which was alot it seems to be a very reliable gun.

I have 14 pump 12ga and like you have decided the Stoeger is the first semi auto, as it is now can't find a 3 gun or ghost ring m3000 so might go for standard gun and put full length mag extension on. If I have a 28in barrel might as well have 28in mag tube. Now I know what's in the box, thanks, good vidio.

I have the same shotgun for coyote hunting. It is a great gun, a little on the light side (when firing heavy magnum loads its noticeable). I have had problems with the light Remington club loads when shooting clay pigeons - it will not fully cycle them and have to manually cock the bolt each shot. It does handle the 3" Hornady Coyote BB shells well though, and I imagine any other heavier loads will work fine also - I did find that some federal light trap loads would feed in it. I know the manual says to shoot 100 heavy loads to break it in before attempting light trap or target loads. Good luck and enjoy.

I shot 3-gun for a year with one with a big fucking extension tube. If you practice reloads it is one hell of a weapon option! Very reliable gun there. I love the pattern of the finish!

That's a loaded questions with lots of opinions out there. Some would say a semi-auto shotgun with a 28" barrel is not a home defense shotgun. So there is that opinion. But main think would be to determine what's best for your home. Consider, what spread of damage at what distance. Are there over penetration concerns? Here is a nice article with lots of good info on 12 Gauge ammo. It even has gel tests for pattern and penetration.
