Stoeger STF 3000 how to disable the auto safety.

How to disable the auto safety on a Stoeger STF 3000 over/under .12 gauge shotgun. After this mod the safety will still work but will be manual like ever other over/under shotgun. Very easy modification to complete and will only take about 30 minutes to complete.

instead of a pin I just put the bracket back in under the springs. No extra part, no need to buy pins when you only have one gun. Thanks for posting really helpful

I just took the L shaped bar I removed and cut it and set it back in just like you did with the roll pin and bent the edges up on the bar I put back in the safety around those spring wires. It's been solid for a year. No issue and it was 100% free, no harbor freight or Amazon for me.

Excellent video. Will try it on my Stoeger Uplander 20 gauge. Could not get the spring out, so used my Dremel and small diameter cut-off wheel to remove the rod behind the support. Filed it smooth, and it works fine.

I just purchased a Franchi Instinct SL. Yes, with that horrible auto-safety. While not the same as your Stoeger, the safety slider bar is on the left side, the rest is almost identical. I too, went to Harbor Freight and for $ 4.90 bought a smaller quantity of roll pins, to place in the safety once the bar was removed. You could, on the Franchi, just dremmel cut-off the bar and leave it pinned, if you didn't care of putting it back. Great Video, very helpful.

I did this mod on my Longfowler, but I drilled and tapped a 3/32 roll pin. It's solid and works perfectly.

Awesome! I just did my stoeger condor! My brother’s condor is next. Others said to slightly grind down the rod but that would void any warranty. I bought two roll pins at a local ace hardware for 10 cents total. And had it done in minutes. The rod is now in the box the gun came in and if i need to get warranty repairs it goes back in with no permanent alterations! My brother and I took our new Condors out last week and watched plenty of clays slowly drop to the ground and break cause of the auto safety. They’re cheep but i found out that i hate watching perfectly good clays get waisted. Im a safe gun handling adult that has shot firearms most of my life. Ill put the safety on or off when i choose. None of my other guns have an auto safety. If my stoeger is not pointed down range the saftey is on & the bbl’s broke, chambers empty and the muzzle pointed towards blue or brown. If i needed mom, dad or stoeger to babysit me I shouldnt be shooting.

@@rexhollis876 i do not remember the size of the pins i just mic’d the bracket then took my calipers to the hardware store and bought the correct size roll pin. I dont know about the 3000 but the condor was a common US sized roll pin They went in snuggly without a hammer (finger pressure only)

I deleted the auto safety on my Condor in a similar fashion. I don't regret it at all.

Have you worked on the barrel selector on the CZ uplander ultralight? The stock CZ set-up requires you to put the gun on safety prior to selecting a barrel. This makes shooting two shoots at a bird a pain in the ass.. Thanks for any help.

If you have a stoeger condor and take the safety switch out and one barrel fires. Taketh safety switch and turn it around. I accidentally did this. Remember to test fire it.

Could you just shorten the metal rod that you removed so it will not be pushed backward and re-install it instead of the roll pins?

Hey bud great video. I did this on my Stoeger coach gun. Plan to do it on my Condor as well. Do you know if it’s possible to put the special/comp barrel selector into the STF? I’d really like to do this but haven’t seen if it’s possible or not. Cheers!

i did this years ago but i just cut the L bracket and used the little piece...just stuck it back in

Instead of a buying a roll pin or cutting the L bracket (which could be a problem for warranty work) I used wire cutters to clip a 1 inch section off of a standard wire hanger. Fits perfectly.

You showed that it'd still shoot in the "Fire" position, but you didn't show that it wouldn't fire in the "Safe" position. Does the Safety still work when you manually engage it? I'm looking to do something similar with my FAIR Iside SxS.

Tom Palmer for a kid new at shooting maybe.....i have the outback variation,these dont have sensitive competition triggers and the safety switches are very very stiff and can tear your thumbnail.I completey took the safety off mine,I carry it open until im shooting a bird like a lot of us do with sbs/ou type shotguns

@Tom Palmer Please explain why you believe that the auto safety feature is "a real good thing". Unless you're a lawyer for a manufacturer I just can't see it. It's like putting a tang safety on a lever action with a half-cock hammer, or on a shotgun with external hammers... it's redundant.

For hunting, I can see it. However, I shoot thousands of rounds at skeet and trap. You don't need to have one more thing to think about when you are shooting clay games, where non auto safeties prevail. Don't believe you can get a Perazi, Kreigoff, Kolar, and even the "poor man's" O/U, Browning, don't come with auto safety.

I disagree, it's a pointless feature. Never seen it on another 12g and imo, safety isn't safe. Empty is safe.

Bizarrely they are fitted for safety. Most, if not all accidents with shotguns is down to there being no auto safety. Personally, I wouldn't have a shotgun without one, I guess that's how I was brought up around guns! and not in the wild west.
