2008 with 150,000 miles. Never misses a beat and runs like new! My favorite feature is what happens every time I put it in park and open the door and I hear, “Hey man, nice FJ!” And I have to say wow on your cinematography. The scenes in your videos just blow my mind. What drone and camera do you use? Some of the most clear and well thought out shots that I have ever seen!
@stokedtour2 жыл бұрын
Haha that's an excellent feature! Glad that you like the cinematography - I'm just using a DJI Mavic Air 2 for the drone shots. To be honest, I never imagined the drone videography to become so important in this KZbin journey - I get as much of a kick filming it as you guys do watching it!
Bought mine October of last year with 150k (ish) miles. I am the second owner, no rust and the previous owner METICULOUSLY cared for it. Only thing I’ve had to fix is the stock door speakers and tweeters didn’t work and the valve cover gasket had a very small leak that was causing some oil on the coils but not sparks. When we found it at the dealership it hadn’t even hit the lot yet, just the no pictures posted post on their site. We immediately called and set up and appointment. They wanted 18k, we got them down to 16k. There was a high school girl with her dad looking at it and a jeep and paying cash I believe. Dealer nearly had no choice but to give it to them but luckily they went towards a jeep (typical) and I put down a cash deposit to hold it. Honestly feel super lucky. It’s a dream vehicle. That vehicle will last me forever, I’ll make sure if it. And honestly, that vehicle will stay in my family till it dies. Great vehicle and I see no reason to sell it.

Glad to know that I've got a vehicle that has appreciated. It’s the greatest vehicle in so many levels. Honestly, it was made ahead of its time. I own a 2008 4WD Auto-transmission with all the equipment from factory (the woofer, differential, a-track, etc) and, as some of your other commenters mentioned, with many many miles in its history (mine has about 220k miles on it), and no problems whatsoever. This month alone, I’ve been asked if its for sale. It’s a vehicle gaining recognition years after it stopped production, and everyone wants one because of how good it is everywhere.
@LinkS7X2 жыл бұрын
And, yeah, what you say: the new vehicles have a bunch of sensors which, yeah, they are there to help, but honestly it is numbing the awareness every driver should have. Nowadays people rely on the blind-spot sensors instead of actually seeing how close the car is to you. Which, speaking about the FJ, its really modular, and was designed to work in tough environments. I use mine both off-road and on highways (i bought tires made for, and suspension set for both uses in my day-to-day life), and haven’t had any problems driving on asphalt or rocks (or really really high speed bumpers which are set every 10 meters).
@LinkS7X2 жыл бұрын
And yes… some FJ’s have prices close to newly released cars. It’s insane.
@stokedtour2 жыл бұрын
It really is the best! I'm pretty much right there with you in terms of mileage and it doesn't even feel like an old vehicle. Also yeah, I didn't want to get into it but the next generation of drivers will be relying on these things...making it hazardous when they operate older vehicles.

Great content! I recently became an FJ owner after a buddy took me for a ride in his 2012 Trail Teams FJ. I was expecting a jeep like experience but was treated to a very smooth ride, even with 2” of lift and 33” AT tires. I started doing some research and found a 2012 green base model that was very clean (70k miles). Right after I paid sales tax on it and got my tag, a 2012 Trail Teams edition with an added Xplore Adventure Series package came up for sale on marketplace. I was the first person there to look at it and bought it too. My wife was not so impressed. However, I put my Green FJ on Marketplace and sold it in 10 minutes over the phone for what I paid for it. That is my favorite thing about owning the FJ…it is almost a liquid asset 🥳. I’m looking forward to using it for what it was built for. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us with wit and humor. 👍

Thanks for the videos! Really fun to watch! The FJ in Chile has not been selling for years now. Only option I believe is importing them, which in reality they come directly from Japan or another country. The used car market here in Chile for an FJ Cruiser has gone through the roof, similar to the USA and almost every other country. I bought mine second hand in 2019, just a few months before the pandemic, for an equivalent of 11.000usd with around 146.000km. Mine is a 2008. Same car right now is around the equivalent of 30.000usd. I´m going to keep it until it dies and then switch the engine for an electric one when if available.

I bought my '07 FJ in the San Francisco Bay Area, where they were relatively rare. Then we moved to Northern Arizona. I've never seen so many FJs in one place as I have here. I think they were sort of designed (even if not entirely intentionally) to live here. The wide open desert and rocky terrain just... suits them. In spades.

Just two days ago I nodded off after a long hard day and totaled my 2007 Voodoo Blue. It was my first brand new car when I bought it in May of 2006 and was a gift from my mate, who passed of cancer 4 years ago, so it means the world to me. During the crash I was conscious and watched what happened in seconds. Hit brush, side swiped a telephone pole, and stopped on a tree. I watched as the side curtain airbags deployed, followed by the steering wheel airbag. As we came to a stop, the deceleration was so strong that I watched the windshield wipers get pulled away from the windshield and stick straight out. I got out with only an abrasion to my wrist when the steering wheel airbag deployed. I have not started any large amounts of pain or headaches that everyone tells me to expect. I can attest all that to the FJ and some luck. I am going through grief and remorse on the loss of my FJ. It means so much to me. I need a vehicle to haul my trailer and I live in the country and need the 4WD on occasion. Looking for a replacement vehicle - What will it be? An FJ, damn the expense. I have a line on a 2014 with 46K on it and most of the bits and pieces I require. Two things - don't drive tired, and I had rock rails on my FJ and it blunted the impact. FJ's, the only alternative.

I have watched a few of your videos and I like the content! I have an FJ cruiser also and have been looking at front bumpers for it. I love the look of yours and wondered if you had a video on it? Thanks for the content, awesome job so far!!
@stokedtour2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the support! I don't have a video on it but the install was pretty straight forward! I had my buddy who is a professional welder help me. What I would say is to check the dimensions of the winch before you purchase one (if you are planing on installing a winch)
@dwong5062 жыл бұрын
From a non-professional welder who also welded up the same brand front bumper for my 4Runner as my very first project: -Samson's advice regarding the winch is key, I cut the top plate of mine before building it to make an opening for easy winch access. -Do a lot of test fitting as you go. -Be prepared for it to be HEAVY once fully built and with the winch mounted. Have a buddy to help move it around, use an engine hoist if alone, or just be a powerlifter/strongman type person. -Be patient, take your time, and have fun. It's a really satisfying project!
@The1stDomino2 жыл бұрын
Thank you both for the info! I am definitely not a professional welder, but think it’s something I can do. Good to know about the winch, I guess I need to look into a winch in conjunction with the bumper! Thanks…..more to think about now!

Like I hear they offer a bigger fuel tank as an option, but it is like $5,000 more. I have not checked on the 2022 version. I paid $15,000 for my 2010, with only 40,000 km. I have a 2014 and it has 63K on it. I mostly use it for offroading and it's my daily driver, I never used her for my commute to LA.

I love my fj. The only thing I'd want to drive other than the fj is a toyota land cruiser. Nothing else gets me excited. 2014 74k ish

8:43 i don’t know about that because Toyota came out with the new tundra and sequoia with 3.4 V6 twin turbo engines and their already having problems like turbo issues. Toyota recently released the new Tacoma with a 2.4 4cyl turbo which is sadly gonna have problems.

I don't what it is....but I like using the lock feature on the tailgate's hydraulic cylinder when loading stuff in the back. Worst thing tho.....forgetting that it's lock and trying to slam it closed at the grocery store looking like a newbie 😬🤭

I found a 2008 FJ cruiser with 200k miles and they are selling it for 15,999$ USD. Is that price and mileage worth me selling/trading in my 2013 Toyota RAV4 for? It seems as I looked over the Carfax that it had regular maintenance done on it as well.
@stokedtour2 жыл бұрын
Hard to tell - you'd have to go see it in person to see what kind of shape it is in! I think that price point is par for the course right now
@walterward28692 жыл бұрын
@@stokedtour It was in pretty good shape actually and the Carfax showed it had been well maintained, but it was sold, so I'm definitely looking at a few others as well! I want one!

I have been in the market for the last few month for a FJ. Wanting one since 07, I finally had the chance to get one, and of course it is in the most expensive economy in 100 years. I ended up with a GX since the market is so stupid on them.

GX is still a great vehicle!
