The revision of the stolen valor in 2013 made it to where you can’t use your military status as a way to get donations, that is in fact stolen valor...your receiving money from people based on your military status, and those donation things are basically self ran, it’s not a big charity and cmon they almost never go to the VA let’s get real man, they need some easy money and just didn’t anticipate a vet to call him out because all the work they put to look legit, if they were they could’ve dissolved the situation within seconds, actually was a good catch.

To the first guy.... stolen valor law only applies if you are receiving or requesting to your personal benefit while passing of as military (former or current) the guy had his id, instead of us army it stated "veteran" didnt have any SSI nor rank. Also, he was doing it for a charity, therefore not receiving personal benefit out of it
