@@ZeusAdvocate nah. I disagree, I haven’t seen “You Got Served”, however, I’ve read the plot and seen many of its dance-offs. The first dance-off and final dance competition, i thought were much more substantial in “Stomp the Yard”. You got served was just breakdancing and contemporary/urban hip-hop dance. A lot of recycled movements. However, Krump is in a class of its own. It is self expression, no recycled movements, and all freestyle/improv. Don’t get me wrong, both dance styles require a tremendous amount of strength and agility, obviously. but Krump is the more raw, aggressive and emotional out of the two. Lastly, i think Stomp The Yard has a more substantive message. A tragic but yet beautiful story. Just my opinion. One of the creators of Krump is in the beginning dance-off(he’s the one with no shirt and tattoo on his chest) I did a presentation on Krump recently, so I’m a little biased:) thank you

There are a few factors that let him do this; one, he's a professional break dancer so he has some pretty tough back and shoulder muscles to cushion things. Second, similar to Judo, how you fall (in this case, his upper back elasticity) spreads the impact force so it's not all on one point. Lastly, he went in the same direction so he could keep his momentum going--which is to say, not lose as much energy via impact. Notice at the end of the move, when he takes the most impact, he has to push himself back up a bit. If he tried doing these rolls and changing directions, it would break more than beats! If you find this stuff cool, you can always study physics =) They don't talk about break dancing, but it all follows the same rules of motion!
