If Stompin Tom writes a song about you, you’ve been blessed by Canadian royalty.

Except that this song about Ms Lang was particularly embarrassing to listen to. I don’t recall her ever jumping around like a “rang-ee-tang”. Maybe Tom was thinking of Mick Jagger?

@@rayray8687 You missed her cowpunk phase with the Reclines. And why are you saying Stompin' Tom doesn't know what he's singing about?

We met his niece by accident in a Quebec City Bar yesterday and by absolute fluke met her again in a resto/bar today. Her and her friend walked into the place minutes after we sat down. All four of us were absolutely shocked and delighted, although this morning I woke up and had this feeling we would bump into each other today. Lo and behold! We did and had a GREAT lunch together. What a wonderful world.

I had one chance when I was a teenager to see Stompin' Tom in concert with my parent's and I passed it up. I can't even remember what I passed it up for and I really regret it. What a true Canadian, we should all be proud of this folk legend.

the problem with putting Stompin` Tom on as `background music` while I do other stuff... is I always end up sitting infront of the monitor watching him instead of doing my 'other stuff'

Saw him in 2012. It was amazing, sold out. There were people of all ages, toddlers to seniors, people of all musical types punkers, metal heads, and so forth. So lucky to have seen him, our dad loved Stompin' Tom. When were teens and grumbly aquiesced to dad playing him in car on trips we never realized how important he was becoming to us. Then we got older and now we all have fond memories of hearing him with dad tapping along. Many times now when we get together out come the Stompin' Tom tunes. It is like he became part of out family. Wish we had more like him.

He came to play in Chilliwack, BC in 2012, a short time before his death. This was a big deal too, because he rarely came to the west coast. I saw Stompin Tom in Saskatoon. I was in the middle of the Second row. He came out, I said "There he is!". He was such a legend. After the second last song he looked at his watch and he said "Well we got time for one more!". Played the song and walked off the stage. He was a straight up guy. A little thoughtful/a little crisp getter done kind of guy. Unassuming and kind. Cool

Looks like at 42 seconds in...I can recognize, just behind Stompin Tom, this guitar player from Whiskey Jack. It appears he has been along with Stompin Tom right along ever since "The Return". Now that I think of it seriously, I wonder if he wasn't there the whole time EXCEPT for the era with Mark LaForme and the Formulas. Good question. Tom has had so many good people touring with him over the years. Two honorable mentions here, among countless others, were Graham Townsend, and J.P. Cormier.

@StompinAllan Hi I knew that he was banned for awhile in Canada because he thought Canadian singers should not have to go "over the border" to be heard...and I completely agree with him! I didn't know he was still banned. I just assumed that they didn't play him on the radio anymore because of what "country" music has become and the ageism that exists in radio today! I heard him on a station out of Petersborough in the late 80's that had the Eric McEwen maritime show! Loved that show!
