Thank you ! It was a ton of work haha, but worth it for the final product.

From a fellow roofing contractor, thats not "sheetrock". Thats fiber cement board and very much approved for that application.

Great video showing different aspects of this system. You had your hands full with several problem areas. I can't believe this doesn't have a starter strip, allowing the screws to be hidden. Does this system allow for a ridge vent?
@perkinsroofingcorp2 ай бұрын
Yes, there are ridge vents for the system that can be ordered. The screws can be a big time problem, because 80% of the time I see this assembly already built the installer didn't install the correct stone coated screws.

Great video. The direct-to-deck method looks pretty walkable. Would you say if it's on a batten system, it's still somewhat walkable if you walk on the seams? Since it has more air gap. Have you done any with battened system? Thanks
@perkinsroofingcorp6 ай бұрын
Yes, we have done battened systems. They are less walkable, because if you don't hit the battens you can dent the panels. Unless you have a greater than 6/12 slope, I would generally avoid the battened systems, because the benefit is negligible against the increase in cost.

Thank you so much for this video. We are in Tucson, AZ. We are doing research as to what type of metal roof to install on our mobile home. What would be the temperature difference after removing the asphalt shingles and installing a stone coated metal roof like this one directly to the deck? Obviously, having an underlayment of insulation boards would help with temperature control, but is it necessary or worth the 10K (?) additional cost of an already 21k metal install cost? Thanks again.

It's hard to know, but it will also depend on the SRI of the shingles vs. the metal. Solar Reflectivity Index is available for most colors of both materials.

Mr. Kanak, I have a barrel concrete tile roof. Was wondering if it is okay to clean it with a bleach solution applied with a backpack sprayer? Does bleach ruin underpayment? I have a modified bitumen underlay that is also used on most flat roofs. It’s thicker than the old standard 90 weight.
@perkinsroofingcorp Жыл бұрын
I recommend Wet and Forget... bleach is fine for the roof, but it will probably kill all your plants on the ground. I have a video on tile maintenance specifically if you are interested. Thanks for watching!

@perkinsroofingcorp5 ай бұрын
I usually use United Steel (Boral), but they are all the same quality-wise. The most important thing is to pay for a quality installer - stone coated roofs are easy to mess up.

No, it's a stone coated metal tile. Though there is a brand called Decra that makes some of these.

Some guys say start from top looks like you started from bottom up stair step just like normal shingles they told me hard to keep strait from starting at bottom
@perkinsroofingcorp5 ай бұрын
We don't have issues, I would think installing from the top would be more difficult to keep straight with the eave line.

Interesting that your instructions are to " walk on the edges of the tiles after installation" which is the correct way to walk on a roof , however when you check near the end of the recording you can see several of your employees jusf barging all over the tiles instead of the advice you put forward?

Our employees are half mountain goat, they spend more time on roofs than on the ground.

Haha, that's the stone coated system. I prefer standing seam myself, but some neighborhood HOAs don't allow for standing seam.
