I do prefer this overall because it’s more of a task and challenges me more but sometimes it’s nice to just do the field.

I do full bed veneer mainly 5-9 inch depending. I’ve never done it in this style though with the skinny long stones it’s mostly large granite as im in New England. This shit looks awesome

what are the upright slips of plastic you have inserted between some of the stones? What are they for?

They are called weep vents. They ventilate the cavity as well as allow water to escape.
