私の生まれ育った宇都宮市の誇る大谷石。 町のあちこちに大谷石が使われた建物が見られます。 大谷石の特徴は多孔質なので吸湿性速乾性があり、熱吸収率が非常に高く吸音性耐火性があるので、石蔵に良く用いられてます。 戦後の建材不足を宇都宮市では大谷石で賄ったので、一般住宅が大谷石のところも多いです。我が家もそうでした。水分に長時間当たると脆いので崩れます。

It is a type of chlorite included tuff. It's a plentiful stone but unique for their geologic area. I've not seen a green type before. Interesting right?
