Terrific video gents! I loved the interaction you had with the Ram that you let go. If you're not 100% confident it's legal you need to let him walk! It's brutally important from a conservation side. Not many people realize how old a ram needs to be before he is able to breed. So different from Whitetail, Elk and Moose. Kudos to being true outdoorsman and not just in it for a kill shot.
@AlpineCarnivore3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment and feedback, it’s tough to let them go sometimes but we are here to put on a good show and enjoy nature there doesn’t always have to be a kill involved to have a great experience in the outdoors. Thanks for watching 👍

Rams are tough and it seems like the one big ram was in fact 8 years old now that we can review it on the big screen but in the moment I was not sure. It’s always better to air on the side of caution no sheep is worth loosing a licence over that’s for sure!

on second look counting the rings using the crown method, it does look 8. im not an expert and i would still not take the shot because im looking for older ram but it likely was legal on age
@AlpineCarnivore3 жыл бұрын
Yes it was very close and probably legal. So hard to tell but glad we didnt take a chance.
@PositiveBuilds3 жыл бұрын
That was a legal ram based on age. It was short on full curl but I am 100% sure that it is legal age, I think he's 9 yrs old. Always hard to shoot based on age so letting it walk when unsure is the right call. Also, you know where a legal ram is if you want to go back. If you want to hunt sheep in Region 6 then you need to learn to age them otherwise it makes finding a legal ram significantly harder. Great work.
@AlpineCarnivore3 жыл бұрын
Good info! We will be heading back next year for sure! Hopefully hes still alive!
@josephthurgood1359 ай бұрын

great video!! in the begging of the video you had and app you were marking where you walked with your finger. what app was that? thank you
@AlpineCarnivore3 жыл бұрын
That’s the IHunter app. You can do a bunch of stuff on it, tracking, way points, plan your route. You can change from topo to satellite imagery. We use it on the hunt and when we plan for the trip. It even works with no service if you download the maps. Thanks for watching
