This song hits home with me, I had bone cancer when I was 12 years old. I remember laying in the hospital bed, awake at 4 am because I couldn't sleep with IVs and heart monitors hooked up to me. "I get to go home in one week, but I'm leaving home in three weeks". Literally how it was in chemo treatment. "I'm ready to live with my family, I'm ready to die in obscurity". When you're a young adolescent these types of emotions are truly felt in those moments when you're alone at night, not knowing whether you'll live or die, just doing what you're told. The lyrics are obviously about his career as a musician, but it's totally relatable from the experience that I had. Thank you Corey writing something that I can connect with. I am healthier than ever, and I'm a survivor, but I'll never forget how it helped me grow as a person. I think it's important to remember how we felt at certain moments in our lives, other children did not make it in the hospital I was in. Something like this brings me back to the altruism I was taught from a life changing event. Our universe is so impersonal, we must not let bitterness consume us.

When i was a kid, my dad drove my brother and I from Joshua Tree CA. up to visit our mom in Las Vegas NV. On the way, right before Calico Ghost Town, there is a road called "ZZYZX rd." and every time we passed that road, I often wondered where it led to. I'm 38 now and have faced many trials and tribulations , heartbreak, disappointment, addiction, you name it , and still to this day i think of that road and Corey Taylor hits me every time i hear him sing that song. Thank you for keeping my soul alive my friend! From one musician that struggles with his emotion to another.

Great song... For those who don't know this is a real road... It's on Interstate 15 in California out in the middle of nowhere... There's nothing out there at all, just desert and loneliness... If you were on it you'd definitely wish you were somewhere else... Great symbolism just in the title...

Miss Beth, did you really think I wouldn't see it through? I'm over the myths and placebo, ready to die in obscurity, I don't even mind if I just fade away....tell me I'm a part of history, tell me I can have it all ❤

I’m going to have this played at my retirement. The lines “I’m ready to live with my family” and “tell me I’m a part of history” hit home.

This song saved me after my first miscarriage and my husband leaving for boot camp. I felt alone and that it all was my fault, that something was wrong with me. Listening to this song 15 years later has a whole new meaning. Now I have 4 crazy wonderful kids and still married to a great man. Life has a way of bringing what you need. Bless to all those still fighting your demons.

This song really hits me hard I grew up raging out to the sounds of the masked Cory in Slipknot, never would of I thought the man behind those legendary screams had such melodic and beautiful voice, this song can pick me up no matter how down and out or tired I feel

I first heard this song about 2 years after my brother passed away, and I was battling depression in high school. I hadn’t listened to it in years, but something told me to give it a listen today. I’m so glad I did. I’m back in mental health treatment, and doing what I can to make myself better. Recovery is possible, whether it be from a mental illness, a physical illness, or a substance abuse problem. I’m glad I didn’t end my own life when I wanted to.
