Just found this. Enjoyed it. These bikes are turning into collectors bikes now with a lot of people sorting them out and putting them in the living room. I still have a 999s final edition with around 1000 miles sitting to make me smile !!

Nice work mate - love the 748. My old man has a 998s sat in his dining room!

Thanks Edd, Lovely! When I’m to old to ride I would like to think the 748 will be in the house (convincing the misses will be the biggest issue lol)

Regarding the termi stickers. I bought a 998 with a termi system with the stickers faded off. I emailed Termignoni and they asked the dimensions of the stickers and sent me some completely free of charge. Reach out to them. Great video, enjoy the bike.

Emailed them before Christmas and nothing ☹️ maybe worth trying again

Valve check! First order of business, I'd ride it like it is, depending on mileage, I'd also consider splitting cases at some point the left side case bearings are notorious for giving up, believe there is ceramic option out there for that while not OEM, and upgrade for an archaic case design to start with. They are great bikes but demand service, it's best to have two of them so when one is down you can keep riding! I'm working on my second one now, and looking at my third bike soon. My 748 bioposto left case bearing gave up a 24,000 miles, had the nice case rumble at first, then turned into louder one though the 165+ mph runs probable not the best thing for this motor design, but the 853 kit on mine is an amazing upgrade. Swapped used 748 motor into has logged 7,000 miles no issues after an initial valve inspection, I had a slight cam seal leak on vertical cylinder, but appears that has slowed now that I'm riding it more frequently. Let me know what you decide to do with the forks, I have similar issue corrosion starting to set in on them, believe the uppers can be had new, but who has them for reasonable price? I purchased a used mint set that have the later tin gold color coating on the lower legs not sure which bike to run them on, likely just hold onto them. The project 748 mono will get 1098 front end with radial brake, and clutch masters.

Mines on 13,000 miles roughly from new, previous owner toured Europe on it but from the tyres I would be confident it didn’t have a hard life - I have heard the 96-98 models has some issues with the camshafts so will check the lobes when the engines out 👍 How’s the power delivery with the big bore kit?

C'est souvent dû au fait de rouler toujours en ville ou toujours bas dans les tours....20 MKm en 851, 15 Mkm en 748 préparée, 0 problème. Ceci dit, changement huile et filtre tout les 5 MKm.....

This winter the plan was to just stripped it down and clean it up but the more I start taking it the more I know I need to give it a full strip down.. that will be once the new garage has been built I think 🤔 2 stroke fan also? Just added a KTM RC8-R to the fleet 💪
@producsmachina49915 жыл бұрын
@@stoneautomotive we currently have a 916 project - it's completely stripped down ready for some tlc at the moment! Those RC8's have always been on the wish list - future video Star? We have a Monte Carlo Edition E92 to go with the two wheeled fleet so I can't approve of your choices more! 👍🏼
@stoneautomotive5 жыл бұрын
Good choice indeed 👌 almost purchased a 916 BP last year but the guy decided he couldn’t part with it (was in need of serious TLC but was going to just store it away for years to come) Yes the RC8 will make a feature when the warmer/ dry weather returns which is likely to be another 4 months ☹️ excited to try it out as wanted one for years!

@@stoneautomotive I'd keep an eye on that one - you never know when he might change his mind! Look forward to the future vids - I really want to do the primary cats on the M3 so it was good to see your video too. Keep it up mate 👍🏼

I really need to work on building the planned bigger garage before buying any more bikes (famous last words 😂) Glad to hear you enjoyed the video, when it’s back on the road I shall be putting together a full video of the car in action, another head phone user caution video 😁

I've got a 2001 748 which has also been stood for several years after I damaged my shoulder & couldn't work, it needs a lot of work & I've got zero knowledge on working on bikes but I've got a dry garage, tools & am willing to learn so I'm looking forward to the rest of your video's, hopefully they'll give me a few tips & make me pull my finger out my ass 😂

Fingers crossed my videos will help you get her back on the road 😁 biggest thing for you will be the cambelts which I shall be covering in one of the later videos, with that time stood they won’t be in a good state 🙈

@@stoneautomotive I think the biggest thing will be seeing my bank balance after its finished 😢 lol I'm looking at new tyres, replacing all seals, cracked fairing & last time I rode it it was burning through oil fast as f**k but it'll get sorted eventually
@stoneautomotive5 жыл бұрын
Sounds like full strip down of the engine too ☹️ thankfully last time I had mine on the road the engine was running sweet/ no burning oil. Should be good when you get it all done & will be an investment so hopefully not money down the drain 👍

Double check the thread size as it was a long time ago I ordered them but from memory it was M5, generic vibration spacers much cheaper than ducati 👍 www.ebay.co.uk/itm/223452173581?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=eO_W8RE0QQq&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=CKFRglVnR7S&var=522207300817&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Be careful with pads, sintered pads will not be kind to cast rotors and those rotors are dear if you can buy them, Ive used Ferodo Platinum pads with cast and liked the combo. Love the bike and loved the onboard review ;)
@stoneautomotive5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the heads up, I will certainly look into this further as the SBS does state it was suitable for the SP but I guess it could be generic listing (yep aware how much of nightmare souring new discs are)
