I recall seeing these kinds of floors as a kid 50 to 60 years ago. I just bought a home with hideous sheet vinyl in the kitchen & laundry room, that was placed on top of 1980s 9 inch linoleum tiles! Gonna tear, scraoe, & grind it all off, & do the epoxy flakes (i want grey, dark, grey & maybe a little black,on a very pale grey epoxy & I want it shiney. Thanx to your amazing video & clear explanations I know i can do this (as I'm an old diy'er). Lookin' forward to watchin' more of your videos 'cause Im still learnin' stuff!! Thanx again!

First, I appreciate this tutorial. I am in the Northern VA area and was quoted $2500 to do polyurea with polyaspartic top coat with flake, limited lifetime warranty and one day install. This is for a two car garage, 480sf, which is about 8yo with minimal floor repair required. For the cost of my time and lack of friends that are willing to do volunteer work, it is much easier (time of frustration is a cost too) and more cost-effective to choose to pay a pro to do the work esp with lifetime warranty!

$2,500 isn’t a bad price for 480SF. Here in Florida most companies I’ve ran into were $7.50-$10 SF. Same limited lifetime warranty. Doesn’t cover moisture so make sure they test moisture level in the slab.

That’s pretty darn good for a 2 car. You’d almost break even if you factor in your own time to install the floor plus the materials. You got a pretty good deal!

I did my counters in November and called in to ask about flooring and was told it couldn't be done over wood which led me to looking at other companies.. however I am already so used to working with stone coat I didn't want to change and learn another system just yet..Sooo this is awesome. Hey, Mitch! First of all, I'd just like to say thank you for such a fantastically narrated and detailed video as I have watched many and none have come close to matching your energy! So, I am getting ready to start the prep work on my garage floor to then apply the epoxy. My house is roughly 75 years old, so I figured I'd go ahead and start with the vapor barrier (after conducting a vapor test, but my question is the application process... Do I apply vapor barrier, epoxy resins, chips, then top coat? I realize there are curing times, just in general is that the process? Thanks!

What's good advice for whether to us a light or medium or more heavy application of anti-skid product? And / or how would you describe the feel of that amount on your feet? For example, how much would you use if it's a garage for just parking a car vs parking a car and doing repair on the car (where you might have oil or grease spill on the surface) vs maybe a work shop area where you're using table saws and power tools on work benches? Add about 3 ounces of non skid per 1.5 gallon of polyaspartic top coat for light grit, 4 ounces med, 6 ounces heavy, max is 8-9 ounces per 1.5 gal kit

The website says the sealer has a 30 minute pot life. I am going to do a 3 car garage by myself. Should I do each section of the garage and flake one section at a time so it is still 'wet' enough to get the flake to stick?

Hey Mitch. What if you have a lot of moisture coming from underneath? If this product is still usable, I'm sure there are additional steps and maybe additives, but they weren't discussed in this video. When it rains over half an inch, the crack in the floor always looks wet.
