@TimeofQwerty I know that when I was a teenager, she was the reason I watched these two movies. It's a shame that she hasn't done more serious stuff because she definitely was good with acting (I checked to see what she's done lately, so I don't know if she's still acting). Her performance in The Audrey Hepburn Story was proof of that, and I thought she recreated Hepburn's image beautifully.

Had to laugh when I finally got around to rewatching and watching the later scream movies not too long ago. I watched the first scary movie quite a bit, so I kept recognizing scenes left and right. Really made me appreciate Shorty's line where they were upfront about being a carbon copy of scream. "Yo i have seen this exact plot and everything" lol.

I've seen some reactors mix them up as well. One kept laughing at the beginning of Scream just b/c she initially assumed that it's a pure comedy, while a couple of others were confused about the jokes at the beginning of Scary Movie b/c they were expecting to get scared.

1:14 To those who don't know it already, the biggest reason why Lois Duncan was so furious at the movie turning her story into a slasher is because in 1989 her teenage daughter was actually killed by a maniac, a crime the author sadly never lived to see being solved (the killer was only revealed some 5 years after her death) and affected her so much that she stopped writing YA thrillers, the very genre that made her famous, because she couldn't write any longer about young girls in danger. Needless to say, still adapting one of her books as a slasher despite that was a quite tasteless choice from the filmmakers.

@dragondaveltd1992 I haven't been able to take "I Know What You Did Last Summer" seriously for twenty-five years now because of how merciless "Scary Movie" went in parodying it. As far as I'm concerned, Sarah Michelle Gellar was the unsung MVP of this movie. It honestly always seemed crazy to me that she wasn't the star, and they went with Hewitt. I mean, my god, Helen has the most character development, the most interesting back story, the most emotional range, BY FAR the best suspense sequence, where Hookman chases her to the outlet store, with that pounding music and great silhouette. What a wasted opportunity.

I love the book, it got me into Lois Duncan when I was an early teen ('Killing Mr. Griffin' is my second favorite because I LOVE the movie), but MAN, was I disappointed with this, though it's fine as its OWN thing if I remember not to compare it to the book☹ If only Jack Bender, who did 'Killing Mr. Griffin', or Wes Craven, who did 'Summer of Fear' in 1979 (I still have to read that one because I liked the movie) had made it in the late 80s, I BET it would've been REALLY faithful and I would've loved it👍 I like the twist of 'I Still Know' because it made me love the character associated with it...

ALso, why didn't he duck into one of those side alleys? 16:58 She's the killer. Calling it now. 21:47 It's Anne Heche. Creepy is normal to her. 24:03 COme on, she's Buffy! She can fight vampires but not some guy with a big hook? He's almost magical, so this is right up her alley! 24:52 If he was not introduced earlier in the movie, that ruins the mystery element. Here's what gets me about old slasher flicks: I think they inspired audience members to buy guns. I don't know if TVTropes has a name for that, but I'm sure it exists.

The ending to I Know What You Did Last Summer is very inane because nothing indicated it’s a dream after showing the 1 year later with a visible College campus area before showing Julie in a women’s locker room before the predictable dime a dozen jump scare ending.

It’s a very ridiculous plot hole that the Hook Man during the day is able to remove the crabs, and the corpse without being seen in the suburbs during a short amount of time before Julie and the other protagonists walk outside the house. Julie and the other characters would be able to hear a car that is on while inside the house, also it’s highly unlikely that Julie never sees the Hook Man following her while driving a car.

In that case, let me stun you with this tidbit: Sarah Michelle Gellar from this, and Sarah Michelle Gellar in Buffy the vampire slayer, are the SAME PERSON!

In the uk I think this this rated 18 in the cinema, which is why I never went to try to watch it [I looked very young for my age]. However by the time I got my hands on a vhs it was rated 15, so ive always wondered what stuff was edited out...
