@@vipe650r yeah it would be amazing, they can stay home with their family instead of being on the road for a while. The hardest part is adding reliable enough signal everywhere the country. We want to minimize any potential lag, to prevent any collision. Or have some AI on board that would autopilot until a connection is made. A hybrid system of AI and Human trucking would be good middle ground, where you can rely on AI for sensory things and autopilot, and a person for human intuition, where the AI might have difficult like snow covered roads or complex intersections.

I find the idea appealing mostly because I remember the early 2000s Microsoft Encarta had these 3d tours of historical sites like the pyramids and castles and stuff and I would legit spend all day just touring them and looking at stuff because there was no way I was going to be able to fly to Egypt for a tour and then move to Turkey(this was the correct name last I checked if it's been changed let me know and I'll edit this) to look at old ottoman castles in the same weekend

How do you think pilots train/what people who fly sims do. There’s simulators with legally log-able hours for flying. You can log 10-20 depending on the system/type for instrument flying alone. Practice doing approaches and instrument procedures. Literally saves you thousands of dollars too.

I'm a homesteader, and during the warm months there's always a chore on the tractor that needs doing but isn't a rush, rough cutting, scything, finish mowing, watering (don't have irrigation up yet, it's on my list), fertilizing, etc etc. So when I just need a break from everything, I toss on my CSA rated headphones and go run the tractor for a few hours. When it's cold, though, I don't have that. So I bought farming simulator 22, built a setup just like the tractor I have IRL, built the real setup including the old seat from when I got a new one a couple years back....and that's where I go when I need a break.

I drive in my Assetto Corsa racing sim in VR for now less than 2 hours every day. It really allows you to forget not only all your troubles, because of the immersement, I am on the German Autobann 1 minute then driving over in Shutoko freeway the next. I find it relaxing in an exhilarating kind of way

Imagine in the future truck drivers actually work remotely with this setup. The trucks would be like drones. The drivers can get enough rest in their own home which leads to reduce in accomodation expenses and lower the chance of casualties in case of accidents. I'd say it's not a bad idea for the company and the driver. The setups can also be mounted in the company's office to make sure it's safe and regulated, also to avoid negligence from the drivers

He isn't retired trucker or he'd know there's lotsa trucks like this. The mirrors are normal size and passenger seats are in most all of them. The gauge package isn't anything spectacular, either. As for a race car, they only have a few gauges. No need for anything other than oil and fuel pressure, charging and a tach.

The scumbag was my uncle and he used money from the divorce he had with my rich aunt and bought this losermobile setup and now she has to take him back to court in order to get full custody because he has fully gave up working. For anyone interested no he was not a truck driver, but he used to unload them for a living and that’s where he “found his passion” as he tried telling me when I argued with him on twitch. Also he has a history of DWIs, and with his last one he lost his license and he try’s to say that “trucking ain’t gonna pay the bills without someone behind the wheel” but he fails to realize trucking for an audience of 12 on twitch isn’t going to pay anything and he’s going to die a loser whose kids won’t speak to him (his oldest daughter actually already won’t talk to him over being embarrassed when he showed up on foot when she was in the 6th grade for “Career Day” dressed up in different truck company logos which obviously caused the real trucker there to call him out on his bullshit which apparently included asking him to explain to the kids why he had to walk today instead of driving his rig).
