I have been trying to see the value difference between these two machines but the mPulse with a wider range of power and cheaper is more value than PJ. The only advantage of PJ over Mpulse is the low power mode where you can weld very fine metals, which is not common to use. One would think the PJ would be cheaper and smaller for its lower power range (half of mPulse), maybe it is the older technology.

Agreed - I personally think that mPulse is a more useful machine. However, the PJ actually costs more to produce because of the ability to change the interface. THere are some permanent jewelry artists who tried both and bought the PJ and love it. I guess it depends on what you value.

Thank you for the fantastic review. You answered the questions I was looking for. I tried to register for your website, but I live in the US, and it required a "province" even for the US, which is not possible. I ended up going with the Helix via Pepetools because I need to use it for thicker gauge materials in my shop. Hopefully, I will be able to upgrade to the Orion soon. Thanks for the great information!

Glad it was helpful! Province is the same as State. It's such a strange thing that software developers have not been able to overcome this non-sense. In fact, we are one of the top 3 largest wholesalers of high quality chains for the permanent jewelry market in the USA. We have more customers in the USA than in Canada. I have not had access to a Helix to make a product review and I am curious. Good luck with business!!! Oh and you can email us sales@stonesandfindings.com, if you'd like us to create an account for you to see our wholesale prices. Best Dana

loved your video, lot of useful information. Thank you. There are two versions of mpulse on the website, one says "pulse arc welder" but I cant find any differences. Are there any differences between the two?

Thank you for watching! There is an mPulse and also the mPulse with ADL upgrade (it has larger and pivoting screen). I have filmed a comparison with the screen upgrade also.

Hold on they have a new machine coming out tomorrow
@stonesandfindings

They do and I am excited. However, the range is even smaller in power, without the screen. It is made to compete with the Chinese welder, except it will be safer to use!

@@stonesandfindingsit is but it’s still twice the price so
@stonesandfindings

That's true, it is twice the price, but it's made in the USA, is more compact and supposedly with many safety features. It's a matter of priority.

@stonesandfindings I don't care if it's made in the US .... that isn't something that is a priority to me. There are other small welders. They don't detail the safety features just say there are safety features.

Theyre both so overpriced imo i will stay with my cheap welder that does the job
@stonesandfindings
@stonesandfindings Жыл бұрын
Here I disagree that they are both overpriced for the job they do. THey're not the cheapest, and certainly not when they're compared to the Chinese machine. However, it is the definition of the job they do that is critical here. I will use the cars as an analogy here. We've owned the following cars: Chevette, Corolla and a BMW X5. Yes, the BMW was at least 5x the price, the Chevette got us from point A to point B (most of the time), and it's ok to stick with the Chevette (I'm not ashamed of it), but we really are not comparing apples to apples when we talk about the Chinese machine vs Orion.

@stonesandfindings side note the machine isn't a human, so it isn't Chinese. It is made in China. The repair and maintenance bill on a BMW is 4 to 5 times that of a Chevy also.
@CobraQuotes1
@CobraQuotes1 Жыл бұрын
@@stonesandfindings this true but BMW also has a bunch of bells and whistles that add to the cost and it’s the same for orion. Functionally is it better? Perhaps. Is it that MUCH better? Idk about that.

I realize this, but for brevity sake, I write Chinese welder instead of always writing the welder made in China. Back to maintenance and repairs - I drop the Orion mPulse and my heart skipped a beat. It turned on perfectly fine and I have been using it for the past 6 or so years without any hassle. I've also lent it to my friends to use. I absolutely love it. That said, I've not had a chance to test the welder made in China - I just read the reviews and didn't want to pay that kind of money for a tester. I wish someone in Toronto could lend it to me for testing.

@@stonesandfindings i have both and they weld pretty close. I mean you are not doing brain surgery, just welding a jump ring. For something that costs one sixth of the price the results are pretty darn close, if not identical. Yes, identical, and I am not exaggerating when i say this. Sunstone realizes this and decided to come out with a $1000 welder. Well, this is actually taking business from their mpulse and PJ welder because for PJ there is no reason to spend the extra money on those other two. But if you ask them they will still unwaveringly push the mpulse or PJ and say yes it is worth the extra money. Why? They wont give you no good reason except that it just is. In the end of the day they are just trying make money from you and $2000 or $3000 is nothing to scoff at. If you ask me, i do regret spending $2500 on their welder that my $400 could replace. As for their $3000 PJ welder, is the half step power really worth $500 more than the mpulse? Maybe for high precision welding but NOT for permanent jewelry. Not even sure what their welder can do that my cheap can’t tbh. At least when it comes to PJ. But you are right to each his own.
