I think you finally knocked me out of my wholesale mentality and gave me focus on rethinking how I can do retail. Brilliant and generous, as always.

I love what you said about the "I've never had to pay for a pop up".. This is coming from a place of lack. In the beginning, I believe its important to build those relationships and make them partnerships as much as possible. Just like you said showing up early to the event and seeing if someone needs help to set up. This is the way to go for long term success!!
@stonesandfindings Жыл бұрын
Thank you, Erika! Spot on - you're looking for long term success. It is a partnership. I have always believed in being on the generous side of fairness - it has been in our family and a strong part of my upbringing. My parents have always been explicit about this and role modelled it. I feel that is also one of the reasons why I've become successful - people reciprocate, word gets around, or the people can sense if you're just out for yourself. We are pack animals in nature and do better collaborating in groups. From adaptation/evolution, we have developed the ability to sense when there's someone who is not trying to be part of the community. Please stay tuned, I am actually working on something that I feel is revolutionary. In turning 50 last year, something has clicked and I can now better articulate the urge I have sensed growing this past decade. I want to devote my professional energy helping others succeed. And I have some novel ideas I want to work on and see if they succeed. That is my solid goal for 2024 and for the next decade. Best Dana

Absolutely amazing information! I am new to PJ. I subscribed to your channel and your online store. I was wondering if you have produced a video about the set up at an outdoor venue such as a fair or festival. Would it be required to provide a generator or is the electrical equipment generally provided by the fair organizer?
@stonesandfindings8 ай бұрын
Thanks for the note. Almost always electrical power is not provided by the festival organizers. You can purchase a portable power system. You can get them at Sunstone, any Home Depot or Lowes. It will allow you to run all day. They're $200-$400 ea.

50/50 split = $3,000 rent for a few hours? oh heck no! You could rent a space and have it all month!
@stonesandfindings6 ай бұрын
This is absolutely true that it ends up being expensive rent. If you can rent the venue, you should. However, if there is a boutique that has a huge customer list that they're willing to throw an event and bring them all in, to help you launch your business and grow customer base quickly - and at no risk or marketing cost to you, it might be a very good business deal. Think of this - a customer of mine was able to do pop-ups at Anthropologie locations. $3k is nothing to have that kind of exposure. We have to weigh all of the factors. I've been in pop-ups at boutiques where they have it catered with drinks and appetizers. They took me to fine dinner along with their staff so they got to know me better and could sell my line better when I am not there. The dinner alone was over $700. I have no idea how much the catering cost. So, it really depends. THey're promoting my brand to everyone, including their staff.
