Both Dean and Robert are so underrated as respective players and songwriters as well. Dean plays the coolest, off the wall solos with really great licks and riffs that are so unique, plus he uses amazing select vintage gear. Robert kills it on bass and he's also killer on back up vocals, he makes Scott sound 10 X better with those spot on harmonies. His basslines are way more intricate than most people realize. I love listening to all their parts.

all 4 are amazing individually.. together they were something incredible! They were so tight here.. on top of their game for sure. What a treat. And I totally agree about the unique sounds and originality. Anyone who's tried to write music that doesn't sound like something that already exists is a lot harder than anyone can imagine! STP Forever!!!

Watching these videos gives me such major regrets about not seeing Scott Weiland perform more often. We all knew he was not going to live to be an old man and we should all be grateful that his body endured 48 years on this planet. One of the best frontmen of the 90's and 2000's
@BecsWorld4 жыл бұрын
Mitch Canter this was so sad to read. "we all knew he was not going to live to be an old man." drugs are the tool of the devil i swear. and the way the media would just reduce him down to a druggie and blame him for everything within stp when scott was mentally ill. drug addiction is a mental health issue and even without that scott had bipolar disorder. he lost his younger brother to drugs too. i cant imagine how his parents feel losing both their children. and his two kids, Noah and Lucy, are without their father. he had done well for a good length of time. he even went like 10 years without cocaine or heroin. he didnt deserve to die that young and in that way. neither did kurt, layne, or chris. eddie is the only one left between all the major figures of grunge and it may sound silly but i fear the day he goes. i hope he lives well into his old age. i wonder how he feels about losing so many of his friends/contemporaries, especially with chris cornell since they had been close friends for well over 2 decades

blica 1 Thanks. Yes I read this after posting and I understand much why I liked the sound of STP so much 20 years ago and still today :p And grunge music in general because it is a good mix of 60-70's music and the hard-rock of the 80's-90's, adding to the melancholia of these groups like Alice in Chains, Nirvana, STP and others. In the case of STP and looking at this live, I realize how much these guys had Led Zeppelin in heritage. Guns'n'Roses could fit well in this suit too in another style, with Plant/Rose/Weiland and Page/Slash/DeLeo. But I stop here the comparisons because influences is part of the music and each musician and group is unique.

I had a band called Building a Better Spaceship in Los Angeles. Around 2006 we got to spend a week with Scott and his engineer Doug Green at Scotts studio in Burbank called Lavish studios. Scott had seen us play at the Viper room in Hollywood and befriended the band. His indie-label Soft Drive was interested in signing the band, but after a month or two of negotiations, our current label didn't feel it to be a good business move. Scott was in a good place, but he could get sideways real quick, and we'd be on the back burner. I got to play on John Frusciante's 1966 Fender Jaguar as Scott had purchased it. He told us some crazy stories about Curt Cobain, Stevie Nicks, and coming up in So Cal with the grunge scene. He was a great person to be in the presence of. Anyways, its so great to have memories of our time there. Grateful!
