I stand by my opinion that Weiland was one of the last great frontmen in rock and roll. He had an Iggy Pop meets Freddie Mercury meets Jim Morrison thing going on with his stage presence. Slithered around like a snake and it was awesome. Never got to see STP live but I did get to see him with Velvet Revolver and he was fucking amazing.

Scott Weiland was the voice of my life’s soundtrack and I had no idea he suffered so. STP is the band’s whose albums would be a must if ever stranded on a desert island and could only have one!!!!!! I am almost 52 and experiencing the horror of having two children impacted by heroin. It’s devastating, confusing, scary and very, very sad. So listening to these songs now knowing SW’s struggle and prison that is addiction gives me a new perspective on the lyrics behind these classics. I hate that people so incredibly creative loose themselves to this drug. I will tell you this, that drug can ONLY be defeated by the power and mercy of God. Scott I hate you were so tormented, I can’t imagine, but thank you for sharing your talent and it was HUGE and I will be rocking out to STP, the original, until I take my last breath!!!!!

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. I'm hoping for some divine intervention on your behalf, whatever that looks like. I read Mary Forsberg Weiland's memoir, "Fall to Pieces: A Memoir of Drugs, Rock 'n' Roll, and Mental Illness," and they really both went through the mill. It's a good memoir, an enlightening and personal look into the struggle, but it might be tough to read given your current circumstances.
