Do you eat the cat fish? A lot of us Yanks, aren't keen on catfish (to us, they are like carp fish). yuk. hehehe, wooo! As respirators and decomposers, they do a lot for the biology in the pond. Is that why the cat fish?

I have a 3/4 acre pond I built back in 2000. My wife bought me an aerator fountain for mine. It has worked well but you have to have a source of electricity since it takes a bit more power than the pump you are installing. I am not saying mine is good or better, but it was a 10th of the cost. I still enjoy seeing the new technology.

Great video series Josh! Aeration makes a huge difference in a pond's health. I had a muddy mess and after aeration it's beautiful now. Looking forward to the wind mill aerator video. Woooo!

Had a pond that was always murky. Found out it was suspended clay in the water. Gypsum will cause the clay to go out of suspension and go to the bottom.. I took a qt. sample of the water and just added a small amount of sheet rock (Same as gypsum) I had on hand and 24 hours later the water was perfectly clear. Suggest you take a sample and try it.

That's why you buy gypsum from the the farmers supply to treat your pond. Some spread it off a boat others with big ponds will use a fertilizer buggy and back up to the pond in different spots. Hope the additives are not to powerful since almost everyone has it in there house. @@yeboscrebo4451

Where did they go.? I aerate my half acre pond with a septic system pump(much cheaper ) and more powerful .it runs off 400 watts of panels and 2 12 volt LIPO batteries and 24 volt inverter .It runs 24 hours a day in the warmer months and i no longer have any fish kill and weed is reduced considerably.

You could put about 3 feet of the floating hose at the aerator end so the aerator stays off the pond floor. Would probably remove the need for the bucket and less maintenance.

the aeration stone wieghs about 10lbs...it won't float with the line attached my friend...and if it did float, it would drift to the shoreline...these folks have thought of this long before you and I have ....I was thinking the same thing

@@akbychoice No, he lost his first batch of fish from running his aerator too long on the initial start up. You're suppose to run it very little on the start up and then work your way up on the hours as time progresses. Then the next batch of fish he lost because of all the duckweed covering his pond, suffocating all of the oxygen out of the water. Fish can't survive if majority of the surface water is covered.

There seems to be misconception of what this is doing: 1) This is basically an air lift system that circulates water from top to bottom. That has some benefit as it drives stagnant O2 poor water to the surface, though in this shallow a pond I'm not sure how much that would help. The bubbles do not actually contribute much if anything to supplying oxygen to the water, they are moving too fast to allow for diffusion of air. 2) I don't see any indication of a battery in the product description which means it shuts down at night. If that is the case that is the opposite of what should happen as night time is when O2 levels decline, whereas during the day they increase. All this driven by the natural solar process of photosynthesis.

should not only mix the treatment with some water b4 you toss it in, You should try and spread it around as you pour it. So the fish don't go into shock. If this is a pre treatment b4 the fish are put in this is fine then

You make a great point buddy.....the great thing about having an aeration system...is that it helps stir and mix the solution. We're talking about 1.25 gallons of treatment in nearly 1 million gallons of water my brother...no fish were harmed at all, no floaters...and it took about 3 hours to disperse....as per the instructions from Koenders...pour it over the aerator. Now...if this were a smaller pond...it might shock the fish, but this didn't shock them at all

from what I can tell the results have been astounding!! The pastures that need a lot of improvement need more super soil....the one's that are healthy are really popping right now. I've got a couple test plots going right now to show you the results once I can tell from the drone
