I appreciate the tips! I just hate it when I start crying because of a small conflict or someone’s just trying to reason with me. It doesn’t make sense, I went to school and then my math teacher was trying to see if we had our materials ready since we had a week to get them. But I couldn’t find a compass, then he said,” So you wasted my time.” I felt so bad I could feel my eyes stinging and that awful lump in the back of my throat like ahhh- have mercy not during class please

That would totally make me cry lol. I don't get super upset over everything, but feeling like I'm irritating/annoying someone or wasting their time, or being needy, is like, a "trigger" for me and makes me feel humiliated and literally never want to talk to them ever again. Because clearly you have better things to do than to talk to me/help me. It feels like I've over-prioritized myself over them and am now being unexpectedly shut down. Even (or perhaps, especially) if it's not them intentionally trying to make me feel that way. But I /can't get over ittttt/ I can acknowledge that it's not anything they did and all, but I literally can't get over it and I don't know how to change my guarded, avoidant feelings about the person
@OdysseyHuman
@OdysseyHuman 2 жыл бұрын
@@rainydaze4409 When you say you "literally cannot get over it", you literally cannot get over it. You have that much power!!!! Your awareness of the situation can be leveraged to change your guarded, avoidant feelings about the person. You realize it's a trigger so when you feel yourself starting to tell the old story you correct your mind and say, "No, I believe this now. [insert new story]" Practice that until it becomes habitual and viola - you've reprogrammed yourself. You can do this!

I am very emotional and I feel so embarrassed.... I feel like I'm a cry baby because I cry out of little things Today my classmates weren't leaving me alone but my bff helped me but I still started crying I felt so embarrassed and ashamed of myself because everyone was staring and me and i just kept thinking what everyone was thinking like: "wow she's crying for that?" Or "wow she's such a baby!" And that made me cry even more I really don't know how to control my emotions and stop being so sensitive because I'm scared that nobody will like me

Same. I don't know if this will work for you, but i started taking note of situations that make me the most irrationally emotional and tried to find a link with the past. Sometimes i get really emotional when a situation hits an old wound. I feel like it's easier to control emotional responses once you start understanding your emotions in a logical way. Just takes some of its power away. But yeah, totally feel you

I am SO annoyed when I get emotional in professional situations. Most days I am good but a few times a year I get so overly emotional. Especially if I am over tired or in a hormonal swing (like when it's close to my period). Usually this manifests as tearfulness if I mess up even slightly, even if I try to stop it. What could I do about that? Obviously I try to get really good rest, exercise and sleep well which helps.. but at times you run into situations you can't ALWAYS have the perfect scenario.
@OdysseyHuman

The easiest solution might be to reframe seeing getting emotional at work as a problem. You're human; it happens. It doesn't have to mean anything about your character unless you let it. Hope that helps!

I feel like I am an emotional fool too because I always start crying over simple things. I am embarrassed to say that I am a teacher in a good school but still I can't control my emotions Today what happened is the teachers were making the time table and there was a clash between the maths (my subject) and English subject regarding the number of classes. After the time table was made the English teacher wanted to adjust her classes with maths subject and make some changes in the timetable. I agreed to help her out but then I realized that I will get less classes to complete my course so I told her to stick to the original timetable. She agreed but I saw her face expression. It was clear that she wasn't happy with this. She did not say anything but I could feel the coldness in the atmosphere. I controlled myself till the lunch break but then I couldn't and I asked her whether she was angry with me she said no but still I cried like a fool in front of other teachers and now I am ashamed. I don't want to be emotional but still I always become emotional when time comes.... She is still not talking to me and giving the silent treatment.... I think they see me as immature person. Even when I'm writing this comment I feel like crying. Crazy right? I know. Even my friends think I'm a fragile person. I don’t know if I agree with some of these things, I’m having issues with my whole existence… Just crying in regular conversation. When I’m trying to explain something to somebody I can feel my eyes tear up, when I’m getting a review at my job, a good review at that, I cry. I cry when I’m trying to explain myself about a simple task, I just cry all the time and what feels like unnecessary situations. There’s times that yes I do feel triggered however most of the time I end up apologizing and telling the person that I’m speaking to that I’m not upset and for some reason I just tear up or cry.

The key here is to separate the sensation from the story. Feel the tears, let them flow, but don't tell the narrative that goes along with it. By doing that, you'll start to uncondition the "problematic" nature of them. They will just be tears. You can do this! 💜

What you said here was amazing, I feel like I've gone my whole life thinking about it the wrong way like "if I let it out then I'm allowing myself to process everything" but it's totally the opposite. Like you said we can feel everything on the inside and deal within ourselves, I think that's more aligned with the healthy human experience now. I was using tears to exhaust myself and treating emotions like taking a dump, very compulsive behaviour that I know how to tackle now! Thanks

Hi April. Thanks for sharing your experience. The expectations of your coworker are HERS, not yours. If you measure yourself against them, yes, it will bother and offend. Put them down. Hi there Sithmi! Many of my other videos explain this. It's just a conditioned response. So, you've essentially programmed yourself to feel this way based on past experiences and the story you're telling about it, whether you realize it or not. Fortunately, what we learn can also be unlearned. You're never trapped or stuck. I believe in you and your ability to transcend this! Check out a few more videos to learn how to do this.

Hi alot of times I struggle with emotions that just over come me. It happend in class, at home even outside and most of the time i cant stop crying like I try but then I start to tear up again. It is difficult to stop and if I don't stop it gets worse. I really hope that someday that will stop because it is exhausting for me to cry that much. Ok bye bye🥲

Never thought there would be such a video. My eyes filled up even for positive thoughts 😀. For instance, when i listen to a nice piece of music. Or while thinking what a brilliant acting skill of a certain actor. Or we friends talk about sports and admiring skills of certain player my eyes r wet. And people ask..so.why r u crying for that 😀. It's sooo embarrassing and i don't know what to do about that

The quickest way to solve this is to stop making it a problem. Many people tear up with good things. It's okay. When your mind starts to beat you up about it, redirect your focus somewhere else. It can be that simple! You got this.

He has been working abroad for so long and each time he leaves i can barely control my tears. Now i feel a strange feeling within me so i dont even asking him when he has booked the flight... i dont know any other proper way to express this but can you please help me to not feel sad or scared?

Hi there! I understand. Please be aware that advice on my channel is geared for people over 18. Brain development does play a role in emotionality, and the prefrontal cortex matures in early adulthood, around 18-22. The hardware has to be ready for the software, so to speak. Hang in there. Adolescence challenges most people in this way.

How are EMDR and NPR helpful exactly?
@OdysseyHuman
@OdysseyHuman Жыл бұрын
Hi Or Vos. Again, it depends on what you believe. I don't talk much about EMDR on my channel because I like to focus on proactive strategies instead of reactive ones. Some people find it helpful. I'm not sure what NPR is...this isn't an acronym I recognize.

So NLP is essentially becoming aware of your own thought patterns and being able to consciously change them. It's the most effective strategy I've ever learned and the basis of all my videos.
@orvos1459

@@OdysseyHuman oh ok. So when an HSP feels an urge to cry, NLP would be like him or her changing their thoughts to simply viewing crying as just “water coming out of my face”?
@OdysseyHuman
@OdysseyHuman Жыл бұрын
@@orvos1459 In a way, yes. When you reframe an experience, it changes the meaning. If you were to take all the meaning out of crying, it wouldn't be an issue anymore. Just like you (probably) don't think anything about exhaling, or air coming out of your lungs, look at crying the same way. It's just water coming out of your face. It's all the negative connotation you might be attaching to it, "I shouldn't cry" or "crying is bad" that is causing an issue, something that needs fixed. We are always reacting to our own thoughts, thinking they are ultimate reality. They are one experience of reality. You decide what things mean.

Hi Britt - I was an EMT for several years so I understand what you're saying. Staying stable and calm is the best way to help sometimes. Holding that energy that things are going to be okay is beneficial for someone who is fearful and experiencing a really bad day. Because when they are in that state, it's easy to feel like the world is crumbling and they don't know what to do. That was always my experience. You may want to check out my video on empathy - I talk more about it there. Hope that helps! 💜 Thanks for sharing your experience.
