Hi Paul. At age 78 a clockwise twirling of my club using both my hands and wrist together at the end of my back swing as I recenter my body does the trick for me. Actually this may be part of your Body Swing. Is it not? Cheers 😊🥂👍

It's amazing Paul, when you are trying to change something in your golf swing, you literally need to exaggerate it to the point of ridiculousness, but it works. It's like your mind battles any attempt to alter muscle memory. Truly fascinating.
@paulwilsongolf Жыл бұрын
Yes exaggerating is a big key. That is how you get changes super fast. The problem is human nature. It wants you to be comfortable. So if you just do something the right amount you will go right back to your old move. Do something more and you will do it less which is where you are trying to get to.

This really seems to help me with my iron shots. Went the range and was hitting my 5 iron better than ever. Felt like I was actually hitting it from the inside for a change. Driver is still a struggle though, I feel like Im going to hit the ground like 2-3 feet behind the ball with this move. Will have to keep working on it! I also need to watch my lead wrist I I tend to get severely cupped at the top. Im working on trying to stay neutral but it just doesnt feel as powerful as when I just let my wrists do what they want. Although, I have a hard time squaring the face this way. Thanks Paul!
@pjpcadet Жыл бұрын
Thanks for this excellent vid! I do this for a couple weeks, and it works so well! During years & years I used to initiate the BS with a slight wrists move and my problem wasn’t « over the top » but too much « in to out ». It also works for this issue. Plus, I have a wider swing path now and it lets me more time to a better tempo and to clear my hips with good coordination. Hearing that from you shows me I’m on the right way. Houlala! C’est excellent monsieur!!

Thank You! I've been hitting either pulls or pull-hooks lately, and could tell I was moving forward and going over the top. Problem was I couldn't figure out how to stop it, and was beginning to think I needed to set up to intentionally fade the ball. Took this drill out to the back yard and I could immediately feel the correction. Also I was now finishing in balance with the shaft touching the back of my head. Looking forward to my next round. Best of wishes to you.

Love your videos Paul. I like this one in that is really gives you the feeling of setting your body at top of the backswing in the correct and powerful position. I used to hit a draw but filmed my swing a few years ago and thought that it was too flat and started swing more upright (for vanity/looks :) ugh) and then started hitting a cut with less power. I am going to use your drill on the range to see if I can go back to my draw. Thanks again for your content.
@paulwilsongolf Жыл бұрын
Yes, this should help. You can get too upright for sure. The fade would be a sign of that. I like the fade but I have the distance. Little flatter should get the club swinging out at it. Love the videos Paul. I have started to use the wrists more in my swing and WOW what a difference in ball flight and ease of swing. Is it possible to make a video on what the lower body is doing during the course of the swing. For instance, weight on takeaway and downswing movement.
@paulwilsongolf Жыл бұрын
Very good. I love it when someone actually tries it. This is all I need. Anyone loosens up and they will hit some mind blowing shots. At this point I hope they keep doing it. As for the lower body I am loading right 80% as I get to the top. Then you are in transition. You get back to 50/50 by the time the lead arm is parallel to the ground in the downswing. From there you keep turning and the weight and moving into the forward foot. kzbin.info/www/bejne/b2myaoGfltiIhK8 kzbin.info/www/bejne/gpLJpX1jrqtqprc kzbin.info/www/bejne/gZyZZJKcjrh0g8k kzbin.info/www/bejne/p4a6Xn2lfrepasU kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5POhYR5pN2Il6M kzbin.info/www/bejne/pnTddHp7l7mbn9E Those should keep you going.

My game has been so full of errors and this coming over the top is just another one. One day I’m going to get a lesson from Paul in Vegas. But not until I get a halfway decent swing. Watching Paul is a bit like learning to fly. To begin with you start in the classroom with the theory. And that’s what I am doing. I’m seeing all those things that I’m doing wrong before the major surgery takes place. I am actually a golf instructor’s lost cause. But because I can get it bit by bit from Paul without him actually seeing the hacker I am, I’m not getting any head damage. I’m staying intact. I’m in the productive learning zone. And I believe Paul’s videos will unravel this mess I’m in, and I’m going to play the best golf of my life. I couldn’t get any worse, touch wood. 😅🤣😂

I am 66 and have been playing golf since 13. I never had a lesson and basically learned by watching and reading articles in magazines. I played in college and went to the JUCO nationals. I qualified for the NJ State open at 19. So I turned myself into a decent golfer however have struggled my whole golfing life with coming over the top. I never knew about dropping the hands as the downswing initiated until I was in my 40's. I would try to swing inside out at times but never could achieve results. I just couldn't overcome a lifetime of bad muscle memory. I saw this drill the other day and went out with my shagbag to give it a try. The very first swing I took I had the ball flight I have been looking for my whole golfing life! I would say I hit 80% percent of the balls flush and with that same ball flight. The greatest aspect of this drill is you don't have to think about dropping the hands to create the lag that delivers the club on the correct inside out swing. JUST REVERSE LOOP THE CLUB AND THE FEELING IS AUTOMATIC. Thank you Paul Wilson

I maybe figured it out what I was doing wrong (correct me if I'm wrong please!) but I realized that I had loose wrists but arms that were stretched out where my trailing elbow wasn't even close to reaching my torso at all! I haven't tested it yet, but from the looks of my swing path at home, it seems to not come out to in anymore!
@paulwilsongolf Жыл бұрын
Loose wrists are good for sure. The elbow away from your body would be indicating and over the top swing. This is you hitting it from the top with the arms. This is leaning you left. Lean left swing left. So you need to turn the arms off and start the lower body first. You can do this drill too. This would get you the feeling for sure. Here are my over the top tips.
