@@simplyjudy8229 do you have recommendations of natural remedies/treatments for people that are not wanting to go down the harsh chemical route/shampoos etc. I don’t use shampoo or any body wash etc because of the harsh surfactants and stuff that strips your hair of all the natural oils so instead I use rye flour, soapnuts and sometimes bentonite clay to wash my hair. @simplyjudy, How do I do a scalp detox? I was told by my dermatologist that I have alopecia. I was prescribed Ketoconazole 2% shampoo and Tacrolimus 0.1 % ointment to help with the itching and hair loss. The itching is still there and if I scratch in the crown area, my hair disappears. I’m starting to think it’s not alopecia, because when I shampoo the affected areas with Dr. Bronner’s peppermint Castile soap, the itching eases up and the hair starts to grow back until another flare up. I would like to know what’s causing my flare ups. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

For prevention, you can rub aloe Vera gel on your scalp straight out of the shower before your hair dries. It doesn’t change the texture of your hair as it dries, but leaves your scalp hydrated, relieves itch and redness, and it’s also a natural antibacterial/anti inflammatory.

I avoid any product that has long carbon chain (11-24) fatty acids in any products e.g. shampoos, conditioners, hair gel, hair oil, hairspray, heat protectant, hair mousse. It's a pain to find substitutes cause most of the common products have long carbon chain fatty acids which feeds malessezia. I also pretreat my scalp with lemon juice about 5-10 minutes before washing my hair. I dilute it 50:50 with water. I can't stand the smell of apple cider vinegar so I use lemon juice instead. I wash my hair about twice a week. Also, I shampoo twice. The first is with regular shampoo and the second is with ketoconazole shampoo which I leave in for about 5 minutes. I do the rest of my hair routine as usual. I also make sure to dry my hair within 30 minutes after washing. I avoid sleeping with wet hair.

I tried every product out there, every shampoo containing the ingredients she mentions in this video, ACV, tea tree oil, creams, gels, shampoos that are SLS free, fragrace free etc, nothing works. But I accidentally discovered what works wonders. I was put on Dexamethasone (pills) for my back issues for a month and my scalp issues completely dissappeared. I had the healthiest looking scalp for that month. But of course, as soon as I stopped taking it, it came back.. So I guess there must be a cause for it, some sort of inflamation. There's just not a product made for it yet..

That kind of dermatitis can be easily resolved with sulfur/peptides combination and is perfect for people who also had a hair transplant. Skinlyte has a soap that is loaded not only with collagen but also keratin peptides. It is called Hair & Whole Body Bar. It is fast absorbed because it has an enhanced binding enhancement technology which produces a water molecule that hydrates skin and hair. It repairs, rebuilds and strengthens hair and skin. I got it at Amazon and I am impressed with new benefits I discover every time I use it. I noticed many improvements in my hair, skin and nails. What I like best about it is that it's all natural and without harmful chemicals such as synthetic dyes, fragrance, SLS or preservatives.
