LOVE the Joji, I NEED to make one! The yarn you dyed is beautiful, but definitely looks skin color, I don't think you would be happy with it as a whole sweater. Have a fun trip! You and your tests! And just bought the Garland pattern!

Hi Carla!! Thank you! So glad you’re planning to knit the Garland pullover! You’re totally right about the pinecone yarn - saving it for colorwork

Wow Lisa another great podcast. Your FO’s are awesome. I think that yarn you’re swatching is beautiful. It looks good w/your hair. If you feel you need more color after the tee is done you could add a cowl or small shawl to give you a pop of color. Have a great safe trip, love ya, Karen

I love your naturally dyed yarns, the pine cone one with pinky undertones is so pretty. I think it would make a pretty sweater, maybe paired with a fun contrasting color. I’m excited to see the lichen dyed up, I wonder if it will make a more vibrant color.
@StopDropandKnitPodcast3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I’m definitely going to pair it with some other colors to truly showcase it. I’m also excited about the lichen and keep collecting more!

I love the pine cones color, so if you decide you don’t like it, I’ll buy it from you!

Your sweater is great! Hedwig is coming along beautifully. I realized it would take me forever as I don't like to knit fingers (which is what the tail feathers remind me of), so I don't knit gloves. I'm looking forward to seeing it done. Owen is such a great helper. I know it's on a different video, but his singing on your yarn unboxing was great! The hipster shawl is so cool. I may have to knit one.... I do really like the pine cone yarn you dyed. It looks great against your dark hair, but I can see where you would be concerned about it being too close to your skin color. I don't remember if you said there is colorwork in your test knit, but if there is, I don't think you need to worry about the color being too light.Your yarn from your spinning is fabulous! so pretty. I am excited to see what you knit with it when you are finished plying! Thanks for another great episode. As always, lots of fun to watch. Have fun on your trip! I look forward to seeing how your bright axis tee is coming along.

The pine cone color is very pretty and I think the it would be best in a colorwork sweater so it doesn’t look too close to your skin tone.

How about thinking of a striped sweater using your dyed yarns and maybe adding in purple? May be a fun way to showcase what you've dyed up..... the pinecone is too light on its own for your skin tone, imo.... great podcast, love your content!

Thank you! I agree that I should combine it with other colors.

The pine color is pretty but it might make you naked looking. Lol. As far as your row gauge versus stitch gauge, my major fear has always been - I'd might get row but not stitch yikes. So may have to fiddle with size to make the two happy together. Good luck! I saw an episode where some one did their gauge swatch by making a hat to test in the round. That way you get a second project out of the yarn. A win for me because doing a gauge swatch and cutting all the yarn makes me shudder. Lol

I think that color could work, because I think beige sweaters can look nice but I would NOT make anything with negative ease because that gets close to naked territory. Also, you have to option to overdye the whole sweater if the color is still not working for you. I heard that dyeing with black tea will make it darker.
@StopDropandKnitPodcast3 жыл бұрын
😂 I definitely don’t want to approach naked territory!! I’ll most likely use it for colorwork

Hi, um yeah no go on the line come yarn it’s to Close to skin tone. If you like the base maybe over dye it or a different project. Have a good rest of your weekend.

Hallo Lisa, Hedwig definitly is a she... and for the fiddely parts, there are shorter doublepointed needles, specially for socks. I got some bamboo ones and I even use them instead of a cable needle. I don't know the brand, they have nothing written on them. Greetings from Germany, Gabi

Lovely podcast. Hedwig is a girls name. The pale pink would go great in colour work with purple. I think it’s too pale on it’s own close to the skin. Overdying might help. You can do an IG vote, too.

Thanks! Yep, I thank you all for alerting me that Hedwig is a girl! Pine cone yarn will be saved for a colorwork project!

Agree that the color might be too close to skin tone even though it's very pretty. (I have a pair of khaki pants like that and never wear them because it looks like I'm wearing no pants at all 😆) But you could always knit the pattern with the yarn as is and then overdye it when you're done if it doesn't look the way you want.
@heatherdiditknitandcrochet3 жыл бұрын
I think that colour is slightly pale but not too pale. I think it would look nice on you :)
@lynnmccartney17023 жыл бұрын
Hi, Lisa! Love your podcast! Love the pine cone yarn color! But not for a garment. It looks too much the same color as skin. I thought, oh what a beautiful yarn, but then when you held it against your skin, it almost seemed to disappear. 😲 So don’t make a sweater out of it. As someone else said, you would appear naked!! Maybe a blanket!

I think the pinecone dye would look beautiful as a sweater, but if you make it & dont like it you can always overdye it

I also think that your pinecone yarn is too close to skin tone. I would hold it double with mohair and make another Ranunculus.
@anneseccombe35943 жыл бұрын
To be honest it is not a good colour for you. But the wool is great and would be great in colour work. You are doing a great job with your podcast.

If you're going to wear a cardigan, you'll be wearing a shirt under it, right? If you hate it, you can throw a small cardigan into another dyebath. Nobody says you can't overdye a knitted garment. You can even try dip dyeing. I should stop now...
