The best 'tip' I have ever heard was from Gary Player. He said, "Remember the feeling of 'striking a match' when you hit the ball". This video reminded me of that. That tip, and your 'tip' of 'dragging the club back' are the best I have ever heard. Golf has finally reopened here in Michigan, I will be playing soon. Keep your good tips coming...you are the best.

You have got to be the best at explaining the golf swing. Best tips I've seen on youtube.
@khale71804 жыл бұрын
My instructor is trying to get me do this. To keep the club face closed, you bow your left wrist. You have to feel over bowing your left wrist. Anyway it is hard to retrain your body. You have to do this drill but refrain from the full swing. I will keep doing this drill for weeks. My instructor didn't explain it well enough especially on why I am flipping as my body trying to adjust to the open club face. Your explanation makes everything much more clear.

Danny, Thanks again for more great tips. Something that I started trying and it seems to work, I use a foot powder spray on the club head to see where I impacted the club, but now I am spraying it on my artificial grass to see where my club hits or doesnt hit behind the ball, works great. The extra powder wipes right off with a towel.

Great Tip! I have a fundamentally sound golf swing after watching videos of my swing and making adjustments. However I continued to struggle compressing the ball and barely scraping the ground behind the ball resulting in shots that just wouldn't fly properly from time to time. I never would have thought that the clubface angle on the downswing would have that type of effect but it really is a brain thing I think..? I looked at a video of my swing prior to trying your tip and my clubface was not open but it wasn't completely parallel to my torso. First try and simply magic! Divot after the ball! Really enjoy your videos! I started watching your videos about 9 months ago. Found this one searching for answers.

Super!! Love the idea with the ball throw device... Although I find it funny how you naturally grip it... with the right hand you basically had the same grip as in the golfswing ... on the left though... At 09:20 you hold it as you do in a golf swing... when you actually use it as a training device at 09:40 I guess you have not thought about how you place your hand but did what feels naturally the best and the most powerful and accurate one... as you said our brain is a genius... and your left hand was strong some would say super strong... why not grip the golf club that Way? Many tour pros go toward a stronger left hand and I only know of one long driver who hasn’t got a super strong left hand grip...

...love this, tried the closed clubhead drill today in our club net (before the rain), it really does work - still trying to get the feet working Danny (bottle top style) , but focussing on the left foot on the downswing does seem to be helping me to open a bit more at impact and so strike it better - thanks, happy new year.
@grahamjones73714 жыл бұрын
IMHO most bad golfers who started as an adult male under use their right side on the backswing and consequently overuse their right side on the downswing. Look how massively you use your hips/glutes/leg/obliques on your little chip swings,especially your left through impact. Youve done a great video on this b4. Most good ball strikers would hit the ground way b4 the ball unless they massively use their left leg/hip/glute/oblique as you have described in a previous video.

Awesome drill! Similar to what you are explaining, I have simplified my swing thought to where I pick a spot (blade of grass, discolored grass, goose poop, broken tee) about 3-4 inches in front of the tee and an inch or 2 just right of that spot. My goal is to have club head to go towards that spot. Like you said your body will correct your movement. This swing towards 'cliche' right field forces your hands to turnover, hit very powerful and straighter shots (nice draw). What's very interesting is I cannot play any of my irons, hybrid or 3 wood forward of center. I play my wedges-7 iron to my back toe and my 6 iron - 4 iron just a ball forward of my back toe my 3 iron to 3 wood is played just a ball or two forward of back toe. My driver is played just a ball or two in front of center. I tried the traditional ball position and it was so frustrating and inconsistent. I told myself let's see where I am grounding the club and it was towards my back toe with my seven iron. So, I play all my clubs with strong grip and slightly closed clubface. When I do put my club down it is neutral. My forearms feel springy and my hands just naturally released. By doing this I have increased my club head speed and accuracy. I have lowered my handicap from a 12 to 7-8. Some of my weekend playing partners asked me about this and I said it works for me. They started moving their ball position gradually from middle to a ball or two back from middle. They have seen tremendous improvements. My question is why does it work for me? Is due to my body make up? I have longer arms and shorter torso. But, playing the ball middle or forward of middle doesn't work for me.

I think you've got it spot on, there is no exact formula to follow because we are all built differently.

Love your videos - the best online! Around 9:30 you talk about hand dominance - something that always confuses me. I'm right-handed playing right but often think that when my right hand becomes too dominate that I chunk it. Why? What so I feel/do?

Kevin Staggs o think it’s ok to use yours hands, Tiger woods thinks his hands are his biggest asset, you just need to make sure they are used to experience the club face

Thanks Danny, I was enquiring last wk about this and you said you'd put up a video alright, this was super. I'd imagine for a left hander using the tennis ball throwing tool that they just need to turn it upside down and hold it out to their left side and not have to do a backhand type swing , or am I wrong? 😁

I do understand that a shaft lean needs the head squared (anti-clockwise grip twist), whereas a chipping vertical shaft already has square (or set as required) face, toe-down (bounce contact sweep@ground,target side). My dog fetches a ball slung LHS backhand, unlike dog of Steffi Graf (very strong RHS forehand..!) Thanks again.

During the second nine, finally, I would duff many of them. Very, very frustrating, and the more I tried, the more I'd embarrass myself.
