Forbidden Rite has some of the most interesting mechanics I've seen in a skill since penance brand. So of course I've had to experiment a bit for myself and here's some results.

I'm playing a Forbidden Rite Occultist. Yes it is CI, no it is not Ruetoo's build, yes FR Totems are probably better, but I dislike how totems play. I've used the character as an excuse to explore some of the wider mechanics around the build and found a few really cool things.

jousis probably going to do something like chaos can ignite, with the ring that heals you on ignite, and cwdt as he doesn't need more the amulet that damages you on ignite, or who knows, he always finds the magic on the new spells

i personally went low life using the high recharge during wicked ward to mitigate the self dmg, and went for a cwdt freezepulse gmp ele prolif to freeze the whole screen as i pôwer charge stack and have very high crit chance adding a very big defence and solving the proj speed problem vs non bosses

Wow, been playing Wardloop the last few leagues and... yeah, I feel stupid now for not realising that it's not just self damage it's actually a hit. Guess I have some more shenanigans to be up to with my build. Thanks. :)

my bet would be in self leech, wurm's and a flask with "15% of damage taken leeched as life during flask effect"

Hi ! Thank you for your amazing content. Are you sure the freeze when hit from divergent quality still works when casting forbidden rite ? I remember the similar interaction on herald of thunder autobomber/storm secret ring/arctic armor was nerfed in a previous patch.

I reliably freeze metamorphs as soon as they spawn, so unless they're hitting me without an animation and the hit is then blocked causing my health to not move yes. I even did a little testing running through a low level area with Brutality, and was still freezing enemies who didn't appear to have just hit me.

i play it on COC, i double coc by useing vengence - coc - frost shield - sigil of power... triggers it on top of bosses when i cyclone spin them... fucking amazing =)

Generally self-damage counts as secondary damage (Meaning neither attack nor spell) so it bypasses dodge, block, suppression etc.

Did CI forbidden rite get nerfed in 3.16? I don't see any CI self--cast FR on poe.ninja, only CoC FR that went CI.
