Stop LG TV Home Menu Launching on Start Up

The Home Menu is a ribbon or collection of tiles where you can easily find your favourite apps. However, it annoyingly automatically launches each time you start your LG TV. This feature can be easily turned off in the TV settings. I also show you how to stop paid ads from appearing in the Home Menu.

Another advice: If you don't like the new full screen home, you can change it back to the 'classic' LG interface, which is is at the bottom of the screen and allows e.g. ongoing TV program to run in the background while you browse the Home Screen. You can do this by going to Settings -> General -> Home Settings -> Home Style -> Updated Home/Basic Home. Select "Basic Home" and you're back to the old LG Home Screen. I just did this on my CX, and can't be happier to be back seeing the TV interface as it was when I bought it.

We just got a new LG tv for someone with early Alzheimer’s, he can start a movie in the Blu-ray but can’t switch the input and I have been so stressed wondering what to do, I can show the input button countless times but still can’t remember. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I've had this LG TV for a couple of years and I mostly just ignored the annoying pop-up across the bottom of the screen, but they recently installed and "upgrade" ... that makes my TV after about 20 seconds go BLACK and then display the ad screen and I can't see what I turned on the TV to watch! Completely unacceptable!!! But I think this may have solved the problem. The menus are a little different on my TV, but I was able to dig through the menus and find Home Auto Launch and turn it off, along with Home Promotion. Hard to tell yet if that did the trick because that nuisance usually only happens when the TV has been turned off for a long time, but I haven't seen that annoying screen yet and I'm very hopeful... UPDATE: It's been a day and that stupid screen hasn't shown up once! Thanks again!!!

Yes! I needed my smart OLD to not be smart and only use HDMI input feed. WIFI is also disabled to discourage unwanted 'updates'. They want to place ads? - they can pay me then for that privilege.

Thanks for the tip man, after the update when I turned my cable on, it never automatically went to the cable interface but to the LG app’s interface, then I had to either press the input button on my cable remote to last input used(which worked 50% of the time)use the LG remote to get to the cable interface, which drove me crazy. Also I thought was worth mentioning, my LG OLED tv is a couple of years old so my tv’s settings were a bit different than yours. For example I went to all settings then general, then additional settings, then quick start+ then I toggled it off.

You're welcome! Yes the mouse can be annoying. If it appears when you don’t want it to you can make it quickly disappear by pressing a direction on the remote (up, down, left or right). Using the direction ring that surrounds the mouse wheel/button.
