Stop Making These Mistakes & Get Stronger For Jiu Jitsu!
The first mistake we see BJJ players making in the gym is jumping into a workout without a proper warm up. Your joints and nervous system need time to prep themselves for heavy work, without one you will underperform and also increase risk of injury. A proper warm up is ESSENTIAL.
The second mistake is following the SAME OLD program month after month, year after year. Yes, we're strong believers in following a program however all programs have an end point. We see people grinding out the same exercises, sets and reps year on year in the gym, and not making any progress. You want to periodically change up your training program so that you can continue to make gains and not stagnate.
Mistake number three is lifting AFTER BJJ! This is a bad idea because after jiu jitsu your nervous system is already fried, which means you're in a weakened state to attack your strength training. You'll also massively increase your chances of injury, too. The best approach is to split your jiu jitsu and strength work onto separate days, or if on the same day, try to give yourself some space in between sessions (like strength in the AM, jiu jitsu at lunch, or in the PM)
Avoid these mistakes, and watch the gains come rushing in...
