I like this video very much, however, when you said to try saying "Hey, how's everything going? Is there anything I can do to help?" almost immediately people suspect that you're insinuating that something is wrong when it may not be. It may appear as a judgment even though it isn't meant to be that way. As a result, people can be offended even by that. That has happened to me before. I tried to address someone's emotions by asking how everything is going and they got upset & offended. I suppose actions speak louder than words because that showed me right away how they were doing. My theory is that the problem isn't always how we say things to people. Sometimes it is how people react to them. I'm not saying we should live in a society in which we only work on how we react to a remark, but I am saying that we can't just only address what we say. We also have to address how we react. Hence, I liked when you said "Don't respond by saying 'well you look like sh*t!' to the person." Let's be stronger as human beings and understand that nobody is perfect. Let's not only address what we say but also how we respond.

This is incredible feedback. Thank you! You’re right, there are so many factors that can play a part in these interactions. I usually base my response on how strong my relationship is with that person; if it’s good, I’d feel more comfortable reaching out and them knowing it’s out of concern. I didn’t provide that level of detail in the video, and I wish I would have. I appreciate your very thoughtful response. 🙌

THANK YOU. so many folks don't seem to understand how hurtful that statement is. If they were truly empathetic they wouldn't add to how shitty you feel by pointing it out. You should do a video on how to respond to these comments in the moment. When you're tired you're so vulnerable making it difficult to not respond negatively.

2:19 liked the whole vid, but I LOVED the time-out moment, but for the wink toward “Saved by the Bell,” but also because of the interaction between two versions of yourself.

Thank you, sir! I pay for a video editing platform called Descript, which gives you access to their stock video library to insert into your projects. If I can’t find something there, I also use Pexels.com/videos.
