A THIN coat of anti seize compound applied to the wheel mating surface works for this as well, and keeps it from re occurring because it’ll keep it from getting corroded again. Also, keep clear of wheel cleaners that are too strong. The acid they contain really messes with high performance brakes.
@WorkPlayDrive5 жыл бұрын
If it happens again (which from what I heard it will..) I will use the anti seize. I'm not a fan of wheel cleaners I just use mild car wash suds for them, so hopefully I'll be good for a while.

Great info!!! I got the dreaded click at 800 miles on my 2020 scat with the 6 pot brembos. Cleaned it up and click gone. I’m at about 1200 miles and it’s back. This time I’ll apply the anti-seize. BUT.... what you say about the wheel cleaner is spot on!!! My initial noise started at 800. Coincidently just prior to the click, I had washed my wheels with a wheel cleaner (adams). The second time was the same scenario. The click started about 4 days after washing my wheels. I think the adams is too strong and contributes to the expedited corrosion. You can also tell the strength of the adams because the surface of the rotors discolor right after the wash and can’t be rinsed off. Great content!!! Your channel and vids are awesome!!!

@@MrPhilira Yes. I didn't do the complete surface prep...just a quick & simple cleaning of both matting surfaces and the clicking went away. However, it did return after a month or so...but not as aggressive. My 2020 Widebody ScatPack is doing this. Dealership here in Sarasota, FL had no idea what it was when I brought it in; they did a search and found some memo or bulletin about it. Nice cat man, and dig the widebodies. I hate using jacks if I don't have to, and got race ramps for my SRT8. They are awesome because they're made of an ultra lightweight material that is super condensed & strong, and are way better better than the old steel ramps. I've never had the clicking issue with mine, but they have always squeaked when in reverse and hate that. The early SRT8s don't have 6s up front, like they do on later models and are 4 piston. But that's okay with me because I don't use it on a road course and is all about drag racing for me, plus they are heavier and is the last thing that I need is extra weight. {2021 update} So after changing the brake pads, I discovered what the squealing was when I replaced the pads on the brembos recently. The old ones that I took off had some surface rust and could tell that they were not ceramic, so I put some good ones on it and took care of the problem. Whoever owned it before took very good care of it, but didn't use the best products like I do and is my baby

Man I’m so glad you figure it out cause I couldn’t and no dodge dealership in Houston could as well they also tried tighten the bolts on the rotor and it completely separated and had to put a new rotor on mine as well so now it started again and I took back up to the dealership and they opened a STARCASE which means if something happens more than once but they can’t figure it out they have to get with the engineers at the actual dodge head quarters and they couldn’t figure it out either damn dummies, so I really really appreciate you and this video although I had to spend $2,200.00 on some supposedly better rotor from an company called R1 Concept, 2 from rotors are $1,100 a piece 😬 but at least I know what the problem is now. Thanks again

Sorry man, I saw a lot of people having this issue, its crazy that the solution has been posted by Mopar back in 2015... on the good side those R1 Concepts rotor are freakin amazing!

How about carbon ceramic rotors? Way less weight, extremely high strength and life, and extreme performance. Yes theyre expensive but u get what you paid for. Combined with ceramic brake pads, and you have brakes on steroids and crack
@WorkPlayDrive5 жыл бұрын
agreed and it will cut down on the brake dust significantly. I've got a lot of life on these and I'm not road coursing the car ..yet

So we have to clean a problem ? They need to fix this problem this isn’t normal
@WorkPlayDrive4 жыл бұрын
This is totally normal on the 2 piece rotor on many models, dodge, Cadillac, Chevy. It will happen over time and I’ll need to do this every time I rotate to prevent it from coming back.

Well son of a bitch!! I have been wondering what the hell that clicking was. My mechanic buddy said it sounded like a CV joint. I totally have to try this. I do have a question. I have a brass bristle wire brush for my drill. I think it will do the same as the polishing pads you bought. Your thoughts?
@WorkPlayDrive5 жыл бұрын
I'm cautious about using anything other than the tools recommended in the bulletin. Maybe a simple rub down with an over the counter soctch bright pad might be sufficient and less agressive.
